Max Overclock for 6950 unlocked to 6970

As posted in my earlier thread, I recently bought a 6950 (MSI reference design) & unlocked the card to a 6970. Initially, I had a lot of issues with heat as the card was touching mid 90 degrees under load (read Dirt 2 & BFBC2), though benchmarking in 3d11 & vantage was not a problem.

A solution I found was the MSI afterburner utility wherein you can set the fan profile according to your requirements. After tinkering with the settings, I was able to reach a satisfactory result & now the card doesn't even come close to 90 degrees. So a highly recommended solution for those suffering from heat issues in the new 6900 series cards.

I have one more question. How far can I take the 6950? I did manage to run the card at 935 Mhz core & 1400 Mem with decent temps. All benchmarks were easy, but Unigine Heaven kept crashing. I wanted to know how far have you guys pushed your 6950 & how can I get the card to run heaven at 935-940? Also, is there a way I can unlock voltage tweaking through afterburner?

heaven is a benchmark that i need to reduce my clocks for too, they can be fine in every other bench and play games for hours on end but will crash in unigine

Try bringing your memory clocks down a bit at a time, until you get a stable Unigine Heaven run.
