Hey guys,

Wondering if you guys know any mATX motherboards that has an black & blue colour theme, that supports the i7 4790K?... Except for the MSI Z97M-G43 though.

I recently looked at the ASUS P8Z77 series, but they are 1155 :/...

Any suggestions are appreciated! :)

Asrock do mATX blue+black boards.

Yeah, that is true, I've seen those... although, I'm not that familiar with Asrock to be honest with you. Are they any good, reliable etc?...

Like compared to ASUS boards, I'm pretty sure most people wouldn't hesitate going for an ASUS board.

If you get what I mean here?...

I personally haven't ever had an Asrock motherboard fail on me. They used to be considered a bit of a joke but they've really improved since then.

A question for you guys... I see that on the MSI Z97M-G43, it only has an 4 pin CPU power connector, when my Sabertooth P67 and P8Z77-I Deluxe have 8 pin.
Does this do anything/effect performance or so?...

Thanks

The 4/8 pin is the CPU power. The 8 pins can provide more power for higher/stable over clocks. Even then in the vast majority of overclocks you can get away with using a 4pin.

Just get this (http://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/MAXIMUS_VII_GENE/)

There are a couple of H97 motherboards that asrock do that are blue. You can overclock on them a bit as well. Obviously pretty budget targeted though.

I believe the difference between H97 and Z97 is the chipset itself and overclocking capabilites etc?... I am not much of an overclocker at the moment though.
I'll get the 4790K though, just in case for future OC.

Is the H97 good boards though?... I am pretty much blind when it comes to H97, Z97 etc...

I have a Asrock H97 extreme 3 M for my Pentium . You can overclock on it. Not sure its true for all h97 motherboards or just a few.

Z97 has a few more features and is better for overclocking and power delivery. You don't really want to overclock an i7 on a h97 motherboard tbh. If you were to get an ATX case you'd have more of a choice it seems.

An ATX board, looks quite neat actually... found the mATX version, Z97M Pro4, looks quite sleek as well.
Although haven't looked up the pricing on it though.

My friend has an 1155 G43, there's nothing wrong with it and it looks really tidy. He's not an overclocker by any means but for a normal gamer they are fine. I suppose it's only fair to consider the Asrock board but at the same price I would go with the MSI board every day.

Every day, you say?... may I ask how come?...

Well, your only other black & blue option really is the ASRock Z97M Pro4 which looks alright. I had one of the higher end ASRock boards back in the z68 days (Fatal1ty Gen3.0 or something) and it's still serving a friend of mine more than well (he bought the entire build) to this day. Safe to say I was satisfied.

You could also go all black? It will still be a black & blue build, even if it's just the RAM/ GPU/ Cables that are colour co-ordinated. In that case you could have a look at the Gigabyte Z97M-DS3H or the Asus Gryphon Armour Edition, although the latter will have beige accents.

Finding a good m-ATX board sucks. Finding a good one in blue is even harder. Almost all the good mATX boards are red and black.

Well you know pretty much everything about my setups by now dude hehe :p

I must say that barnsley actually got me quite interested in the ASRock Z97M Pro 4.
So it pretty much between the ASRock Z97M Pro 4 and MSI Z97M-G43 now.
Most of which will go down into the color matching of everything, since the same reseller who has these, also has the GPU that I'm getting... so I'm gonna ask if I can compare them in the store, for colors comparison.

Also, not sure if I got an answer or not... but will a 4 pin CPU power connector make any difference in relation to an 8 pin?...

Thanks guys! :)

Hehe, not everything should be easy dude ;)

If you're willing to put the time into researching it all and actually planning out the build as I am, hell... I've even been on the search for a few months now, planning out the build, with enormous amazing help from Feronix. And I'm still not done halfway yet, just picked up the case that I want to use and the 2 front fans.

And yes, I am quite picky about it, like most people in here when it comes to their diamond of a PC... I want mine to look as much as I want it to and maybe even a bit "personal".
If it will take me time to find all the parts that will work well togheter, both performance wise and aesthetics wise, than I'm willing to spend the time doing it :) ... hence why also asking here for tips, advice, recommendations etc. Since this is an amazing site, community and place to ask for it :)
