Hi guys

Looking to grab an mATX case for a spare rig im going to be building in the new year and can't really decide what one to get

What would you guys recommend ?

Silverstone TJ08-E or some of those Fractal midi cases(arc)

Yup, the TJ08-E, Fractal Arc Mini and the Fractal Define Mini are great.

The TJ08-E looks awesome, forgot which case it was till I realised ttl had already did a review on it, the define mini looks awesome too so dunno what one to choose lol

Will you be adding a lot of hard drives for storage? The TJ08-E will make for a great small form factor gaming system, but for CPU coolers like the NH-D14, it will conflict with the hard drive cage if you decide to mount hard drives there. You'd have to use a couple 5.25 - 3.5" optical bay adapters for hard drive mounting if you decide to use large CPU coolers. You could always try fitting a cooler like the H80 or the NZXT Havik for example. Those shouldn't have problems with clearance.

On the other hand, the Fractal Define Mini will have no problem with hard drives or large CPU coolers in the way of each other. Both chasis are brilliant.

It does? couldnt see anything of that when TTL did hes review of it. Anyways, im planing on removing it and using the two 5,25" with hdd brackets.

I'm pretty sure if you tried mounting a hard drive in the usual 3.5" HDD cage, it will come into contact with the NH-D14 if you so choose to install one. To be exact, you won't be able to connect any power or data cables to the hard drive. You'll be able to mount x2 regular 3.5" hard drives into the optical bays with a couple 5.25 - 3.5" HDD brackets. I think if you were going for a gaming system, you wouldn't need more than 2 HDDs. You can always use smaller coolers if you're not going to be OC-ing too much.

Turns out I'll probably buy the TJ08-B for my 1055t rig instead now and I will be using an antec kuhler 620 in there so the only clearance issue should be with the ram I think

I'll be using 4 sticks of G skill ripjaws and 4 hdd's so was wondering if the hdd's would hit the ram or not as I havent seen anyone install more than 1 hdd in this case ? if so I have kingston hyper x ram here which is low profile so should fit with no problem (I hope lol)

If anyone has any pics of rigs with more than 1 hdd installed and 2 or more sticks of ram I'd appreciate it if you could let me know if they fit alright or not

Hey that's cool. You will have no problems with memory clearance. Tom has shown that we're able to use the Mushkin Ridgebacks in the TJ08-E so it shouldn't be an issue with the RipjawsX.

For your reference, I found another video on the TJ08-E that shows a representation of how it looks with a couple HDDs mounted into the main HDD cage.
