Mandatory Questionnaire For New Build Threads

Wondering if there could be a Sticky in this section for questions that need to be included in threads asking for new build. For example:

When starting a thread asking for advice on a new build, please answer and include these questions in the OP.

• Where are you located?
• How much is your budget?
• Will you need a monitor, keyboard and/or mouse included in that budget?
• What will you be using this rig for?
• If gaming, what resolution will you be playing at?
• Will you be overclocking?
• Do you need a full build or will you be reusing some old parts?

Including these answers in the OP would mean getting better advice and better builds recommended faster.

What do y'all think?

potentially a good idea as it would save what is generally 3 or 4 initial posts of people asking for that information anyway

i agree, would be kinda useful
sometimes takes quite a bit till the OP answered all those questions and people can recommend stuff that would work out for him

Every new build thread I see consist of someone asking those^^ questions on the 3rd/4th post down, so yep, they should be mandatory to keep everything as quick as possible :)
Just my $0.02 :P

Having said that, most new members will just want to post their questions straight away, they may not necessarily want to read the rules, which would get a lot of people banned... Again just my two cents

Just have it in the rules bit... when they accept to be a member

I think it should be a sticky, the post would be easier to reply to and much quicker

Just my opinion on the matter :D

Yeah I was thinking a Sticky would be all thats needed. Newbies tend to read rules stickies as long as there isnt 50 of them and this one would be short and sweet. Just cut and paste the questions into the OP then answer them.

Now all we need is newbies actually *reading* before they post their thread.

I like the idea though :)

maybe if there's something included that tells them that they'll get their suggestions faster when following this they'll read it

Anything like this will discourage new members.

I know it's a pain but still.

I doubt many newcomers bother reading the forum rules, and I highly doubt they'll look for a sticky thread first. It would make helping a lot easier, but I think it'll just change from saying: 'what are the rest of your specs?' to 'You aren't following the rules, you need to post this this and this.....' which isn't particularly welcoming.

thats true but maybe not make it a rule then, just as was suggested just say if you post like this we can help you faster and better right away

Yeah I'm not saying this should be a rule and bannage would befall any who opposed it. I agree that would come off kind of asshole'ish. But it still could be a sticky that people are encouraged to include in their threads.

yeah no harm in encouraging the practice. I think a sticky would be a good idea. It doesn't have to be a "Do this or you'll be spoken to". A mere layout suggestion would suffice
