Hello everyone,
I've finally decided to make the switch to Linux.
I like Windows 7 and have used it ever since it was released, but I'm getting bored with it and want something more technical.
Thus incomes Linux, I've slowly been doing more and more with Linux over the past couple of years, but haven't quite felt ready to switch to it completely over Windows until now.
I still feel that Windows 7 is a great OS and will still be using but mainly just for gaming until the games industry becomes a bit more Linux friendly.
With Steam OS we can only hope other's follow in there steps with Linux support for games. Who knows maybe someday we could be playing the latest Battlefield or Call of Duty on a Linux machine. (Let's hope)
As for what version of Linux I've gone with I chose Ubuntu, It's extremely popular, has a good GUI and lot's of support by the community. There's plenty of popular apps and programs supported and overall is a good user experience. Whether you're an average user or power user.
I'll be posting back regularly as I delve deep into using Linux on a day to day basis. And if I come across any draw backs over using Windows 7.
Thank you for reading,
Please leave your thoughts, advice and experience's with Linux below,
Antony
