Making a custom build need some pointers

Put some better ones on the H100. The Corsair SP120s should do fine, and just run them in pull, forget push/pull, isnt really necessary.

The MSI boards tend to have the best reviews about, and seem to be very good price wise.

That tends to be rated well too, but I did use one for a friend's build and that was DOA, so it was sent back and replaced for an ASUS P8Z77-V deluxe like mine. Thats up to you though, all the Z77 boards are good really, and they all overclock very well. So you cant really go wrong with any.

thanks so much im thinking i dont really want to overclock because i need this thing to last years before i buy another one thats why i wanted more power over anything.
I thought the 2011 i7 would outlast an unclocked i5.

Im not very confident about overclocking etc etc.

'Outlast' is such a broad term that people throw around.

They will both last the same amount of time. The i5 is the same performance as the 3770k, the 3820 and even the 3930k in general windows applications and gaming. The more expensive chips only take the lead in rendering which you wont be doing anyway, and if you arent doing it then it's a complete waste of money.

With the K chips, you dont even have to be confident about overclocking to do it. It's so simple, just increasing the multiplier, then very small increases in voltages. You're never gunna break it like that anyway, so dont worry.

I take it by the 'i dont really want to overclock because i need this thing to last years' comment that you think overclocking decreases the life of the chip by a massive amount? With a very heavy overclock, you could potentially decrease the life of the chip from about 15 years to maybe 13/14 so that's seriously nothing to worry about.

Also if you do ever get stuck, we're always here, and once you try things you will pick everything up so easily.

Monitor wise, can i suggest http://www.amazon.co.uk/iiyama-X237...cklight/dp/tech-data/B005UK3K8O/ref=de_a_smtd if you dont mind spending a little more. I'm about to put an order in for one myself, and have spent over 2 weeks of searching for the best one

just saw this on aria what do you think?
https://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecial...descreen+LED+Monitor+-+Black+?productId=50284

can you check to see if ive got everything?
windows7 i have an oem copy of that and i have 5.1 speakers

Errr so far as I can tell, but it is 4am :)

As for the monitor, yes it will be fine, but the one I link is IPS which is better, and does have very good reviews. Up to you though

im still on the fence about an i7, i wanted to record and render gameplay footage too so i might go with an i7 maby ivybridge?

Depends how much and how often you will be doing really.

The i7 will be around 10-30% quicker than the i5 but I think there is more to consider than that.

I have the 3570k and also do small amounts of video rendering. I'm talking about short videos, 5-20 mins long in 1080p which take less than 2 hours to render each.

Personally I set it to render overnight or whilst I'm at work and that gives me approximately 2x 7 hour windows in which to render. The videos are obviously long finished by the time I want to use my PC so I wouldn't actually see any difference by spending the extra cash on an i7, or even 3930k.

The only time it seems sensible to get a more powerful cpu to me is when you are actually going to be waiting around and wanting to use you PC in the meantime.

Monitor wise - the one you've chosen has a 14ms response time? That's very high for a monitor of that size.

As for the iiyama sounding cheap - they are one of the oldest, most popular, and most well renowned monitor makes that exist.

It's up to you about the i7. Get Ivybridge over the 3820 though if you do. I personally think you're just finding ways to spend money unnecessarily but nevermind.

We cant view that. You need to print screen and upload it to imageshack or something, then copy and paste the forum code.

Dont understand whatsoever about the i7 but still...

Please tell me why you've now said 16gb of RAM...again?

Whoops okay i priced it up as a bundle and seperately the bundle price is cheaper and they preclock it for you and burn it in

3770k clocked to 4.5
8gb 2x4 dominator platinum ram
sabertooth motherboard
2gb windforce gtx 670
256 m4 ssd
2tb caviar green
ax750 750w psu
h100 cooler
sp120 fans x2
dvd reader writer
c70 case
extra cables

and the monitor

Looks good. On the bundle I'd drop the bundle to an MSI GD65 as I'm not really a fan on the sabertooths but it's up to you, both will work perfectly fine.

Your choice about the monitor. As I've said the iiyama one is better, and even more reliable and trusted here, but if you're that bothered about getting a brand you've heard of then fine. IPS monitors are better though, so I would look at a 23 inch IPS over a 24inch TN as they're of a similar kind of price
