And a video.. Butter man, butter.

And if anything ATI will need to perfect their drivers (esp a Crossfire profile) 'cos it's got Nvidia and Physx slapped all over it.

Oo, something I forgot to mention. It definitely needs a driver update 'cos when I returned to desktop it was really dark and I had to reboot.

Well I did some poking around and it seems Crossfire is not even working yet. That's why it goes dark on exit.Well, Crossfire is working but it's not really doing anything. AA also apparently doesn't work on ATI yet.

EDIT. Right, disabled ATI AI and got half the frames and no Crossfire logo. So Crossfire is working. Game definitely needs a patch though as it seems a bit buggy. Good fun though, but it kind of reminds me a little too much of GTAIV and I hate GTAIV.

Going to post again because that post is getting a little crampt. Well, it seems I was just a little hard on my much loved 5770s *pats fondly with a loving smile* because I just found this on an Nvidia forum.

And it would appear that my wonderful little babies are actually beating GTX 480 SLI on Mafia 2 on max settings. Now that's hilarious. It would also seem that I am beating a trifire 5770 machine (no surprise there) with a faster CPU than mine. Oh the hilarity ! GTX 295? beaten. 480 GTX? beaten.

*pats his wee loved 5770s one more time*

OK seems those dudes are complete morons. Stepy got some good results, so god only knows what theyre doing. Wallys !

yeah i got 58.8 fps average with gtx460 sli 922/1844/2105 with everything on including physx and 16x af and aa on and my i7 is at stock

Here is my results

Out of interest could you run it with Vsync on?

There's something odd about this game because I ran mine with Vsync off and it was so slow I couldn't even play it.

TBH I'm not sure if I am going to like it very much. It's just too much of a copy of GTAIV and I don't like GTAIV very much.

I'm probably alone in this but I have always seen the GTA games (in 3D) as a load of not very interesting mini games all thrown together with a boring story. Vice City was the best of a bad bunch IMO.

I don't quite understand why they give you the option of driving the car in first person (rather than third) but coded the game purely in third person. Now maybe if the game was in first person it would be really different. No one has done a game like this like that before.

The music is absolutely excellent though. Although let's be honest, they didn't write it or make it, just unloaded a juke box somewhere.

Not sure how this one will go down in honesty.

*DOH !*

Last week I was having terrible GPU problems. At first I thought it was the drivers so I reinstalled. Still messed up. In desperation I booted into safe, ripped them all out using DS and installed Cat 10.4 as they were great before. All sorted.

Then I realised what I had done. I can't remember why now but I forced AA in the CCC. Possibly for an older game? Can't remember. Any way, I reinstalled 10.7 and Mafia is like a different game. It's faster, smoother and the AA is now working. I've also got shadows, shiny roads and pearl paint. Really odd that.

What's fun is stealing one of those convertible Corvettes and taking it to the garage. Switch the plates to make it yours and tune the balls off of it. It does 110mph if you push it, but crash and you die

Great fun.

odd thing with this game is when i play it at first its quite juddery but if i t killed it then goes to smooth as hell not one judder.

weard lol

Yeah it's definitely very very strange. After putting on 10.7 I got more FPS but more importantly it was as smooth as silk and looked better.

I think they still have work to do tbh. And with a release date just over a week away I think it's going to be a little buggy.

To be honest I don't think a single 460 is going to cut it with this game for full settings. It shares a lot in common with GTAIV only isn't quite as bad. But these sorts of games definitely tax the graphics card hard.

How much ram does your card have dude?

Must say, demo runs so smooth and awesome, driving takes a while to get used to but I think I might pick this up when it comes out

.

Brooks, don't miss that you can change the driving view to first person mate. You can have bonnet or road views. Really helps, like playing a proper drive em up. I don't understand why they didn't do that with player views too. Maybe it just didn't work in certain scenes?

1gb fella

Well Stepy got 58 or so average. I got about 1.8fps less, but minimums are pretty bad. Mine got around 7. GTAIV is still unplayable on my machine.

I'm going to try and get Steam onto my 3870x2/8800u later and see how that fares (and if Physx needs a patch on hybrid).

I shall of course post my findings

gtaiv is unplayable on yours? i redownloaded it last night and had a bash and had everything maxed out at 1920x1080 and it runs a treat
