Yesterday i tried to install the machII drivers but i got the "usb connection failed" message as usual. Because there's no way i can regulate the fan speed without the software, I was wondering at what speed the fans run without any software installed. I thought it was turbo but i'm not sure, do you guys know?

Its not turbo, its regular - if its a Mach II. If you have an ST however then its turbo, but I presume you have a Mach II or GT judging by your post.
You've got to set up the connector 1 to 1 mate, it's likely not, for some reason...Mine was wrong too, I'm just glad it didn't do any harm...
Pop the side panel and look at the usb connector on the Mach, and look at the colors left to right, 1,2,3,4 and make sure that they match up on the plug going onto your mobo left to right, 1,2,3,4...
don't worry about what color they are, just make sure that the pins match up that way, and it should work just fine
I had to reflash my controller to get fan control as well, so keep that in mind, but as long as you get a connection, you're on your way...
