mach 2 fan controller question

if I replace the rear 120mm fan with 2x180's and connect these to the controller board, will it still work ok or will the board show a fault?

This may depend on how they are wired. As it's for a MKII you should be okay, but you could always test it to find out...

Ideally you should try and use the 120mm exhaust.

I've got the 120 currently bolted to the plate I've put the prommie on. In my other thread where I was on about the contoller board position. i considered putting the box at the rear of the prommie but this blocks about half the height of the fan and is about an inch in front of it.

Would air flow suffer that much?

Also, it's always best to keep the flow as clear as possible. Better flow = better temperatures

ok, some pics so far.

(I have linked these as I have not been able to resize them so they are a little big)

Bare case. I have used Akasa pax-mate acoustic absorption foam on the base to soak up any vibration form the prommie when mounted on the plate Close up

Installed in the case. The front black box under the condenser is for support and the rear one will now house the contol pannel (although I may need to get another one as I have hacked that up a bit. The far side of this box needed to be removed as if fit in the case but wouldn't allow the side to fit back on). Another pic

I have used wing nuts so that the prommie unit is easy to remove

The power supply now fits fine and following fatty's advise I should be able to fit the 120mm beneath this mounted on the plate. I will actually use the fan's depth to support the psu weight so I can get rid of the little ledge. I will try and modify the original plate but I may end up making a new one for neatness. I should have some pics of this by tomorrow.

Nice and I have used 2 x 80mm fans the controler may show the speeds of the fans a little higher ...oh and make sure you use fans with the three wires

Went for a totally new PSU plate.

5mm+ Alu isn't the easiest to cut with a coping saw.

Hopefully get it done tonight.

psu plate revision 4 is complete

that's in steel so may do an Alu one when I'm finished. Had to cut the sheet with a jigsaw though as nothing else would touch it (even the rotozip!)
