LucidLogix Virtu MVP

Does it help to turn on the LucidLogic Virtu MVP with folding?

The machine that I have the 3570K only have a 8800GT card in it. I guess that I should upgrade the video card. I don't want to spend a lot of money right now and not sure what I should get if I had the money.

Thats a nice find, if only we could all be as lucky. Also going by your sig you are running some pretty high clocks. My 460 (768mb) starts to get flaky between 800mhz and 850, so for folding I stick to 800.

Zorin, if you're only botherd about folding performance, the best leap you can go from a 8800GT is probably a 460 or 560 as the 8800GT is fairly strong at folding (PPD wise) considering its age. Depending on clocks and the work unit a 460 will give you between 2 and 2.5 times the PPD and a 560 Ti will be between 2.5 and 3 times the PPD of your 8800GT.

But at the end of the day it depends on what you have avaliable to spend and if you find a cracking deal.

As for the question about Lucid Logic, if you have the desktop output going through the onboard graphics and the Folding being done by the 8800GT in theory you should get better desktop performance while folding.
