LSI Raid controller compatibility with Intel z77 chipset

Hello all,

I'm interested in buying the LSI MegaRaid SATA/SAS 9260-4i 6Gb/s PCI-Exress 2.0 w/512MB onboard memory RAID Controller Card, Kit
(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816118107)

I saw in some forums and people's reviews that there is a compatibility issue between LSI Raid cards and Intel's z77 chipset in general.

I own the Asrock z77 extreme9 motherboard and I wanted to ask if someone can confirm that it actually works well and if there is any issues with the 2 working together.

Thanks
Shai

I actually contacted LSI support regarding this issue, and here is their response:

Unfortunately, product testing focuses primarily on enterprise-class hardware, including system boards. However, support keeps records on customer reported compatibility issues as well as workarounds. At this time, I don't have any compatibility or workaround information about the Asrock z77 extreme9 motherboard.

Typically there are a few reasons for incompatibility: 1) BIOS for the system board; 2) Firmware for the controller; 3) Limited Option ROM space; 4) INT13 or INT19(H) support. Most of these issues can be remedied by updates or BIOS configuration changes, but some are limited by the manufacturer design. We will work with customers on individual cases to resolve these types of issues, to the fullest extent and to the best of our ability.

Thank you for contacting LSI technical support! Please, don’t hesitate to contact us for further assistance.

I understand the highlighted phrase as: We'll do anything we can, but we don't guarantee that it would actually work.

This is I opened this thread, so that we could get feedback from some users that had success (or failure) while using LSI Raid controller and any Intel z77 chipset motherboard.

Thanks
Shai
