Low PDD

I recently started folding, but now I'm somewhat discouraged. For the past few days I was getting 220-260k PPD, however it has since dropped to around 70k. I haven't changed anything and my GPU and CPU are still running at the same frequencies and loads.

I read somewhere that some projects are undervalued, but it seems odd to have such a sudden drop in points. I've let it sit for probably twenty hours with no change in PPD.

My current setup is a 4770k and a single 780Ti. I'm running Windows 8.1 and the second newest Nvidia driver version 340.52. My folding power has been set at full and I hardly use the computer for anything else besides the occasional internet browsing.

Anything insight into this problem?

I'm stuck on core15 WUs and really hating it. On one GPU the core15 WUs keep crapping out with some unstable machine error. Never had a problem with any other WUs. Eventually it stops the slot with a failed status. Hopefully this nightmare will end soon. Have just boosted my CPU clock from stock turbo (3.8Ghz) to 4.75Ghz overclock to try and make some ground back, however futile this might be. I'll put up with the extra noise and heat for a while. But this has all dramatically reduced my output.

Edit: Am trying it with SLI disabled (only thing I can think of). Both cards are exactly the same, so why should one keep failing the core15s and the other run them ok (albeit crap points). Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: No, SLI disable did not work, core15s still crapping out on one GPU.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My R9 290 is folding a Core16 WU that is crapping out an estimated 5524 PPD (!!)

Don't know core16s, But check to see if estmated credit=base credit. That's the case with core15s and hence the crappy points, no matter how fast you finish it.

Yeah, it's the same. My other 290 got one as well (and they're taking like eight hours each!) Sorry Stanford, I can't burn 700 watts of power for a combined 7500 PPD... finishing these and then powering down till winter.

It's now been over 24 hours and I'm still stuck with low PPD.

It must be those damned core15s my GPU keeps running. No error messages here, though.

The core 15 WU's are not great, but it's all in the name of science, so we can't complain too much.

Just stick at it and you will surely see better days :)

I will not stop, despite the low points. Hopefully the core15's will end soon. i've had to disable one GPU slot because of the non-stop failures. No point eating watts and generating heat for zero benefit to anyone.

I came home to one of those failures :(

I'm on a core 17 WU at the moment, with the ETA at 11 hours and credit at ~78,000. This is more like it :)

I suspect sabotage ! lol

lol. My PC was abnormally quiet when I came home so I suspected something had gone wrong. I logged in to find the GPU stuck trying to download another WU. It's happened in the past, but it is very rare.

I've changed my client-type to advanced and it's all looking peachy now.

I've just taken a gamble and enabled my second GPU, and yay, got a core17 !

Back to making some decent points. Well, once the other GPU finishes it's crappy core15. Looks like we're back on track, we've had a couple of low days.

Yup, we have had a bad couple of days. Good to hear your second GPU has picked up a core 17. I just hope they last a while!

I've been having trouble all morning getting work for GPUs. I just checked now though and an assignment finally became available.

Thanks. Think I've become a points junkie lol. If I can get back to running two core17/18 WU's again, I'll be a happy folder. Think I'll let the overclcocked CPU carry on for a while, and try to make up a liottle for all the lost points. Having recently lost a place to LinusTechTips, it would be nice to catch the two teams within our grasp within the next 3-5 weeks :D

It's very addicting :D

A month of consistent core 17 WU's would be amazing in that regard.

Back in the points !

God I missed this :D

Core 17 for me = 180k ppd now core 15 60k also running around 10 degrees C hotter my card seems to be squealing a little bit too and cant maintain 1200mhz as the heat gets over the temp im happy for it to run at all day
