hai there,

I got few parts recently for my pc :]

and I've started messing around with my gpu oc, but I found that I couldnt get a stable bench beyond +140 on core while I could go up to +750 on memory stable.

running +12mv and 140%( doesnt go beyond 120% i found)

Could it just be the case of me using corsair builder cx500w while still having z87 4770k at around 4ghz atm( will go for 4.5 atleast after im done with gpu)

CX500 watt for an overclock cpu/gpu? Is the fan spinning pretty high or is heat being exhausted quite hot? You might be hitting its 12v rail max volts so it may just not let you go higher.. though unlikely because it would BSOD if overloaded. Still might want to upgrade it.

Your gpu may just have an average core but have an excellent memory controller/chips and that may be the reason for such high oc's. Try running the mem on stock and then focus solely on the core. May be able to get higher clocks.

In all fairness to cx500, its been running solidly for past 3 years with anything reasonable I threw at it. But yeah new psu is on my list for this x-mas :P

any recomendations? been out of touch with new hardware recently

It's not your PSU, so don't worry. I'm still using my Toughpower XT from 2010 with no problems.
As far as the overclock is concerned, could you tell us what the boost clock is while gaming? My 680 won't go beyond +100 on the core but can happily run at +610 on the memory. So I'm sceptical it's a hardware shortfall.
