Looks like I can't build PCs anymore!

Hey,

Part number is CMW32GX4M2Z3200C16.

I was using the pc out of the case on a makeshift open bench (cardboard box anyone?) while I was trouble shooting.

I figured if it's working with one stick I'll get it sorted fairly easily so took it apart and put it in the case. Now it won't post again. FFS. I'm contemplating getting a refund on everything before two weeks no fuss refunds expires.

I suspect that might be a Hynix kit (never the ideal option) and secondly 2x16Gb kits never did play well with 4xx series boards - ideally if you could get your hands on some 2x8Gb Samsung B Die just for testing purposes.

In the interim try changing the memory speed in the BIOS, though with it not posting, yeah, that's gonna be a major issue to...

The kit is ryzen optimised, whatever that means.

Also, with the 200ge installed (used that to update the bios for the 3600) the pc works - windows sees the lot.

So, the board and kit work but not with the 3600.

Just double checked, that kit is in the asus qvl and they are Samsung

Edit - you might have nailed it. I copied a part number from the qvl and when I pasted it on a site the result it returned was the one I put in the thread.

However, it is a different part number from the qvl. Looks like it took a close match.

I'll be sure to get a kit from the qvl and hopefully that'll be the end of it.

Saving that, are you saying an x570 board would fix all my issues?

Ryzen optimised, reading between the lines I would say means if used with a 3000 series CPU and 5xx Motherboard.

Secondly, your memory might be Samsung, it may be D or E Die flavour however (which opens another can of worms) and with reference to the Asus QVL; take it with a HUGE grain of salt.

I remember when I dropped my R9 3900X into my Asus Crosshair VII (which had been flashed with the very latest BIOS at the time), it absolutely freaked out - so much so that after hours of frustration and searching through God knows how many forums to see other people were having the same or similar problems I did myself a favour; I purchased a Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master (which has been flawless in operation since day one).

EDIT - I really really do sympathise with your level of frustration here, truly I do.

If you get it to boot with one stick try to drop the frequency a little and then stick the 2nd one in and see if it boots.

What I know on my old intel cPU is that I damaged a pin linked to the second slot for memory.

Pin on the mobo looked ok, but once the cpu clamped down, the pin no longer aligned with the contact on the CPU itself, resulting in no boot possible. If I tried to boot without clamping the cpu in the socket, it would also boot fine.

This was discovered when I took it back to the local store. There was nothing wrong with the memory.

I recently did some ram swapping within 2 machines, and the slot's that worked fine on the 1700x wouldn't work for the 2700x, I had to swap them around.

Basically on the 1700x the slot's labelled as A1 and B1 worked, but with the 2700x I have to use slot's A2 and B2, if I had them in A1 and B1 it would just boot loop and never post, swapped them over and it booted fine.

Either stick will boot in b slot (itx so only a and b slot).

Underclocking didn't work.

I'm going to order a kit or two of ram from the qvl and see what happens.

Based on what you've just posted that's indicative of a bad memory channel or your motherboard just doesn't like 16Gb DIMMs; it seems a second memory kit is the only way to go on this occasion to test either theory.
