Looks intresting...AMD Gaining Ground? on Intel??

Judging any comparison of processor as a clock vS clock negates the validity of anything written anywhere around the same sentence by the writer.

I also would consider but I'm now on i7 so not liekly for me, but It would be good for the pc industry if AMD catched up.

I hope AMD will catch up, good for the price drops and research :D

Bit of an ATi/nVidia effect... nVidia had been lazy for a while until ATi came back in the game, now hope Intel will wake up too.

I used to buy AMD for many years, they seemed to have a reputation of good bang for bucks, intel being the expensive but maybe the better option ultimately if you had the dosh. Then amd prices seemed to creep up, seemed to loose that price advantage a little.

These days am on intel too. Would be happy to go back to amd they just need to either offer a top of the line product, or great value for money.

A simple observation that we easily accept the fact that Intel offer the highest processing capability for the highest price. As we look at the figures of those benchmarked profiles, it's not always been the best bang for buck Intel components that are most popular.

Then we look at the graphics pov and find it harder to accept that nVidia produce the highest performing gpu and criticize any1 willing to similarly pay the highest price.

Curious.

toms has the first benchmarks for phenom II's, the result looked better then anticipated especially due to the fact that there still on DDR2, this bodes very well for the AM3 equivelants due in Q3. Interesting to see what OC'ing capabilities they have. I am now completely torn between upgrade options now, was looking at I7 within the next few months. But with prices rising due to the crappy dollar rate I may hold off as its not as if my system really cant handle anything I throw at it. Interesting times are ahead.

Just emailed two of my friends for who I built an AM2+ system to ask if they wanted improved performance ^^ See what the replies are and I might be able to write a user review about this :D

with the price difference between Phenom and I7 you could get a gtx 280, which would give you far more frames.

tbh unless your already a amd user, id go for the q9550. practically same price and a bit better.

phenom 2 940 should have been selling for like 100-150 not 250

Also i would definetly go for gtx280 now!

Point of View GeForce GTX 280 - £229.99 inc VAT

Although ive never heard of point of view :yumyum:

Agreed on the q9550, although, SLI boards for 775 are overpriced and bad, which is why I like amd so much :D
