Looking to buy new memory

Hey guys

I'm looking into buying some new memory for my PC i'm using a MSI Z77A-GD65
and also i'm using a Noctua NH-U12S, atm i'm running G.Skill Ares 1866 memory but i'm looking to change it over the Corsair Vengeance Pro 1866 memory.

I would like to know the pros and cons of changing over to the Corsair memory like does anyone know why the corsair memory is higher in price than the G.Skill memory cause in Australia there is a mark up of $30.00 more is the corsair memory really worth the extra $30.00, also does the corsair use better chips on the memory compare to the G.Skill?.

Also what is the height of the Corsair Vengeance Pro, or should i stick with 1866 or go down to 1600 with this motherboard 1866 is OC memory for some reason.

My main use would be for gaming & also i would like to start uploading my game plays to Youtube.

Thank You for the advice :)

You will not really experience any benefits from changing your memory to another brand. If its all 1866, then why switch? G.Skill is a reliable brand. Dont bother with the corsair ram unless you will get higher capacity or higher speed ram.

Yeah true, I should be comparing memory that are in the same sort of price range for a start.

It depends on cpu how much bandwith(MHz) you can get.An i3 will only run up to 2133mhz and i7 should run 2400mhz without much fiddling with bios settings. But msi z77-gdx5 isnt known to handle 2400mhz+ very well.
If its for normal use and gaming you wont gain manny fps if any.

If you aren't adding more memory, you aren't upgrading anything. Even then, it's rarely the bottleneck in your system.

Corsair has a mark up just because of the brand name. That's all you would be paying for with the memory being the same. At that rate mine as well buy another G.Skill pack an get a matching set and more capacity.

Thanks for the CPU i'm using a i5 3570K but i have seen some 2400mhz memory for like $10.00 (AUD) more.

I know i would be doing the job twice would it be better just to get the 2400mhz memory or just stick with the 1866mhz memory as i have said i would be uploading videos to youtube i know with the extra speed it does help with the rendering videos but how much of an improvement would it be going from 1866mhz to 2400mhz. Thanks for the advice

Yeah true. Thanks for the advice

Yeah that what i was thinking and plus i made a mistake bye comparing these 2 memory kits where i should be comparing the Ares and the Corsair LP memory. Thanks for the advice

The difference for 2400mhz vs 1866mhz isn't that much more noticeable but then again it depends on the size and quality of the video. Mine as well get the 2400mhz memory since it is a tad more expensive. It will end up depending on your cpu memory controller if it can reach and sustain that kit for 24/7 usage. Even then if it can only go for a 2133mhz clock then its still an improvement.

Well i need to buy some more memory cause i have been getting BSOD that is why i'm unsure to get another G.Skill kit or just go for the Corsair memory the file is causing the BOSD is the ntoskrnl.exe. I have been told from a person who is on my Steam friends list they said its the memory but then again i'm not sure, years ago i have having problems with corsair memory too so the only other choice i really have is Kingston, also i can't get the 2400mhz memory in the black & blue Corsair memory.

Once again thanks for your advice :)
