Looking for water cooling part suggestions

Probably switch to a MSI 7970 since I think the XFX one isn't reference so its harder to find a water block for it. As far as I know, the MSI one is so I can use the XSPC Full Cover Razor 7970 with it. I hope.
 
Just get the cheapest reference card you can? No point in spending more for brands.
Considering you'll most likely void the warranty by removing the cooler anyway though - you're better off going with a GTX670 as most of the brands, you'll keep the warranty even after removing the cooler.
 
Currently, I'm looking at an Intel option with a i7 3770K, an Asus P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 Socket 1155, Corsair blue vengeance and XFX Black Edition Radeon HD 7970. For this Intel one I'm thinking a blue/black theme.

Water cooling wise I have the following on my list, which will probably be the same for AMD and Intel. If you see anything wrong or something I could improve/make cheaper for just as good performance please let me know :)

Rad: Alphacool NexXxos XT45 360mm Radiator
Res: EK Multioption Reservoir X2 250 Advanced
Pump: Laing D5 (Alphacool VPP655-T12) Variable speed pump
Tube: Primochill PrimoFlex Pro 1/2" blue
+ PrimoChill Anti-Kink Coil 3/4" black (For a nice look)
CPU: XSPC RayStorm
GPU: EK Water Blocks EK-FC7970 - Acetal CSQ
+ EK-FC7970 Backplate - Black CSQ
Liquid: Mayhems X1 Premix Fluid Blue
and black compression fittings, not sure what angles I will want yet.
 
Wait, so which are you doing, Intel or AMD?

If it were the Intel option, why are you getting a Z68 board over Z77?
Get an MSI Z77a GD65 instead of the Asus.

As for the graphics card, where abouts are you from?
Like in the UK we cant get any AMD cards to honour the warranty if we take the stock cooler off, whereas other countries will cover the warranty on AMD cards.
However, EVGA cards for nvidia will cover the warranty everywhere in the world - so if you're watercooling, you're better off getting an EVGA 670 FTW - with the 680 PCB, as your warranty will be covered everywhere.

Why only a 45mm thick rad btw?

I'm looking at options for both, see which I like the most and which will perform best for the price.

I do live in the UK yes. I may look into the warranties then and see what might be best.

Do you suggest a different rad? I will only be cooling the CPU and GPU so I don't need anything overkill but I would like to go for good performance. So, would a thicker one be better or would I not really benefit from it?
 
If you live in the UK - no AMD cards support their waterblocks being taken off - so you need to get nvidia really.
I'd still suggest the RX360, or at least a 60mm thick Alphacool rad.
I'd want a 60mm thick rad really if I were wanting to cool cpu and gpu. That isnt overkill - and I'm not too sure you can really get overkill with fully internal cooling in a Switch 810, without going into fitting 120s around the place.
 
I also noticed a lot of people seem to run the pump on a lesser speed, would it be worth going for a cheaper pump? I have no idea what would be required for a set-up like this.
 
You want to stick with a D5 really.
Considering you have 2 blocks in the loop - and I'm guessing you're likely to considering xfire or SLI in the future if the budget's there? Just get the D5 and you're pretty set for anything you may want to throw at it
 
Good point.

Just seen the Phobya G-Changer 360 V1.2 radiator which looks pretty good for the price, anyone any opinions? The RX360 is fairly expensive in comparison but I don't know if there will be much performance gain?
 
I'll probably be using Corsair SP fans. Though with a thicker rad, I'm not sure if I will be able to get a row of fans on the bottom of the rad, so it might just be 1 row of fans if the rad is too thick.
 
Pulling from the top is fine - although you may want something like Noctua NF-F12s, or Scythe GTs instead, as it may need all it can get with a single set of fans

Ah okay. The NF-F12's specs look pretty good, though I never liked the colour of them but they will be okay for in the roof section, maybe along with an LED strip or two for nice effect ^_^ If I am able to get some below the rad, I may use better looking ones.
 
Does he really need a 60 mil thick rad though? If it's a 360 rad, then I would think a 45mm rad with push-pull would be better than a 60mm rad with only pull, as he'll have to run the fans pretty fast to get good temps.
 
Push pull only really shaves a couple of degrees of temps. I think he'll have to run the fans pretty fast even on the 45mm thick rad with cpu and gpu on it.

I'd just be saying 60mm to be safe. With the noctuas it should be fine.
