You're probably thinking WTF, but this is actually the new hot box that will be used during the testing of PSU's.

It's still not quite finished but the long and short of it is the controller at the top regulates the temperature inside the case by switching on/off and adjusting power going to the 300w ceramic heating element at the bottom of the case.

The tinfoil is there to reflect the heat and prevent the outer casing from getting too hot.

You're going to have to start giving manu's a "OC3D Tested to Destruction" style award if they cope with that. Yowzers.
 
once i've cleared my current backlog of PSU review, i'll be contacting some unsuspecting 'budget' manufacturers....muhahhaha :p
 
Muahahaha now that looks the shiz Jimbo. I can't wait to see some PSU's coping with what is essentially a pie oven - ownage :worship:

Damn right mate :) Nothing better than the taste of a steak and ale pie with the juice of some freshly popped capacitors drizzled on top :p

I did see a REALLY crap PSU in Maplins today. Was £19....almost bought it just to blow up :p

the X power one is from maplins as well it was for 50£ a 500watts but never heard of the brand apparently it blows up easily....

:S I bought a PSU for£18 by silverpower and it was great.

You need to bear in mind that everything in maplins is 10x more expensive than the net. So I could probably buy it for £1.99 from ebuyer or something :p
