Looking for a GPU Overclcoking guide.

Hi all i just recently got a Asus EAH5870 v2 voltage tweak card. The problem im having is that my computer keeps freezing since i had this card and play games. iv tryed a little bit of overclocking since iv had it and only gone to 920mhz but this isnt stable.

Im not going to lie and say i know what im doing, so i need a method in which to follow for a good safe(ish) overclocking of my card and to make sure its stable.

I increase the core voltage of the card a little to try to stablise the clocks but to no availe.

im looking forward to anyones experiance and imput.

Have you increased the volts though dude? If you have and its still unstable you need more!

hi tom thx for the quick reply, what is considerd a safe level on the voltage tweak 5879's? 1.279 i see u went to for a 999mhz on ur test but should i really be going that high for a 70mhz clock ?

Its GPU dependant fella, sometime too much volts can be AS bad as too little its all a balencing act. Each GPU is different so use mineas a guide not a full proof set up for yours.

Just ran a fur mark on a 15min run.

1920x1080 8xMSAA

Clock = 920Mhz cVolt = 1.249v Memory = 1200Mhz Max temp = 60oc

FPS 24min 55max 34avg

Seems stable on short runs would u recomend a longer run ?

45 mins gaming on GTA IV TLAD at max settings getting a little bit of jittering and the odd lag spike but fps is between 23-60 seems to be holding... i'll see how it holds over the next day or so.

hmm with it jittering and lag spikes maybe thats heat?

set a profile in afterburner to rais the fan by 1% for each degree raised

so 48c=48%fan

67c=67%fan

i can run furmark at my OC and it stables out at 73c @ 73% fan

50%fan gave me 93c lol

my smartdoctor profile runs my fan to 84% to keep me at 61oc max thats the highest my cards reached atm. just finished another stint on GTA IV and was ok.
