Interesting...I can sort of get a grip on the idea of what architecture is.

There are huge online resources on CPU and GPU architectures. Look up on wiki, there should be an explanation of what different parts of chips do.

It would take a few days to explain it in full, there's simply too much to cover.

What you need to know is that chips with decent architecture can get through more data in a single clock cycle. This is why the newer Intel chips absolutely smash AMD's FX line if you run a single core at the same clock frequency.

Great live thread Tom , I enjoyed it. I didn't have any echo problems others were complaining of , the only problem I saw was when you had text on the screen I couldn't read it , I had to open the forum page on my second monitor to read what you were reading .
But great idea , I hope you do it again soon.
