Litecoin/Gaming GPU Choice

Not to sure if this is in the right thread, but i guess it is GPU related ;p

So I basically want to get into some litecoin mining (Sorry guys i'm out of the Folding game for the moment)

I'm considering going with 2 280x's which should give me over 1000 khashes.

Two questions:
1)I've currently got a 780, will this be about the same performance, and I've heard crossfire is a nightmare, for when I do actually want to game.
2)What size power supply would be okay, i'm only running 500w (a bit low anyways i know) was looking at a Corsair RM750

Thoughts?

Cheers guys :)

AMD cards dominate in Mining. No Nvidia card can really compete. SO yes the 2 280x's will be faster.

Crossfire had issues but they have been addressed(for the most part) and are currently addressing more Xfire issues that are less prevalent. I would go with 2 280x's over a 780.

I would get the RM750/AX760. Seasonic also make good powersupplies. They make a lot of other companies PSUs(including some corsair) so if you could find theirs for cheaper i would go with that.

Need the latest beta drivers to address Xfire issues though.

280X are good for mining, if you want to do serious mining however, I would recommend 2 R9 290s instead of 2 280x. R9 290s are basically the best cards for mining you can get. The 7950s are a bit more efficient tho.

I have 2 R9 290X myself and CrossFire is no issue at all for me in games (Borderlands 2, Battlefield 4, Arma 3, ...)

For 2 GPUs 750W should be alright, albeit not very efficient, or holding reserves. I would recommend at least 850W. I am using a Corsair RM1000 myself for mining and it seems to display signs of failure, but I'm not 100% certain of that, or that it is even the fault of the CPU.

Good manufacturers are Seasonic, Enermax and Channel Well (from my personal experience, there are other good ones too, but I haven't used PSUs from them)

Corsair lets their PSUs be manufactured by Seasonic and Channel Well
LEPA lets their PSUs be manufactured by Enermax and Channel Well

I can recommend PSUs from the Enermax Platimax series, Seasonic Platinum Series, Corsair AX and RM series and LEPA G-series.

All of them are usually very very high quality and come with a pretty long warranty that shows their confidence in these products.

If you want some more general tips about mining, feel free to PM me :)

I should also note that the R9 290/290x cards have less Xfire issues than other AMD cards. Pretty sure they addressed some issues on a hardware level to make it easier on the drivers while getting better latency performance.
