Hey,
This is the first time im doing a proper build log. Last week I saw an add for a Lian Li PC-X900 near me, I had been looking for a case to replace me Silverstone Raven RV1 for a while but I couldn't find a case that I liked and met all my requirements. I had been thinking about a 800D but it's too big to fit on my desk and I hate having my pc on the floor due to dust and me hitting it with my chair accidentally. When I saw the add for the Lian Li case I wasn't sure about the looks at first because of the proportions (tall and short in length), but I kept coming back to look at it and I started to like it more and more until I decided to go and have a look at it in person. Of course I ended up buying it
.
Lets start with the hardware specs, I already had all the hardware I only changed the case.
I7 950 @ 4.2Ghz
Msi Big Bang X-power
6GB Corsair Dominator 1600Mhz
2x Msi GTX 460 Hawk 1Gb
XFX 750W Black Edition
2x Western Digital 1Tb GP
Intel X-25M 80Gb Postville SSD
My Cpu is watercooled by:
Xspc Rasa Cpu block
EK CoolStream-RAD X 360
Liang DDC-1 MCP350 with Xspc Res top
So time for some pics
! First time to disassemble the Raven.
With the Rave cleaned out it was time to prep the motherboard. Arctic cleaner ready for duty!
Much better
Loving the look of the cpu block mounted.
Mounted the radiator on the part of the case that holds the front 3 fans. Unfortunately I mounted the rad with the barbs at the bottom hoping the barbs on the pump would line up... But it didn't so I had to turn it around again. Im using Scythe Gentle Typhoons, which are by far the best fans I've ever used (and I have tried a lot of different fans)I have never seen fans that are so beautifully balanced and the amount of air they move is amazing considering how low little noise they make. Im using the 1450rpm versions but using my fan controller (which you will see later on) they are operating at around 900-1000rpm.
Time for the Lian Li to take the stage!
Rad still wrong way around here.
Not anymore! I love how bad ass that rad looks in the case there with the Gentle Typhoons on and the fan grills.
Hard drives installed.
Graphics cards installed and working on tube routing, I came up with a couple of different ways they could go but this version was the cleanest.
That was all I could do in a night, it was definitely time for a cold beer and some sleep
.
This morning a package arrived with the two more of my lovely Gentle Typhoons and some cable sleeving material. Im gonna have my first go at sleeving some cables.
I replaced the last of the Lian Li fans and installed a white LED strip in the top of the case and hooked it up to the built in fan controller on the case so I can change the amount of light. Everything is now in place. I will probably do some more sleeving work in the coming weeks, but right now I felt it was time to sit back and enjoy my new setup
. So here's some pics of the rig all in place.
I am really happy with the result! Let me know what you guys think! Thanks for reading my log.
