Link formatting within the message of thread.

I recently posted a response to someone's problem, my solution included links to support documention from microsoft's website, and those links were not underlined or discolored -- they were formatted no differently then ordinary text is within a thread message.

I thought it would be nice if links were automatically formatted such that they are easily distinguished from text. Had I not formatted those links differently then I don't believe the user would've known that I had included links.

I do apologize if this is not the place to discuss an issue such as this. I also apologize if this is an isolated incident applicable only to me, as I have yet to review my settings; although my setting should be default.

100% agree.

I often embolden links so others can differentiate the normal text from the hyperlink. It is a pain and if you forget they can go unnoticed...

Jim - how about it?

Yeah its a bit of an overhang from the old website design. Underlining (or bold - whatever u fancy) shouldn't be a problem.

Something akin to what standard hyperlinks look like - underlined in a blue, although that might not work with the blue of the forum... Pick a colour, any colour!

Sure, hot neon pink with acid green underline... Rast, you like the sound of that lol?

Given the colour of the forum how about just using the purple 'used' hyperlink colour?

Why not just do this yourself? Pretty easy

Either way I'm sure Jim will look at a solution :)

It is a valid improvement imo, better to have things automated than have to do them manually.

Thats cool you guys are looking into it.

Thanks :)

Fixed :)

For the moment I've stuck with what most people have used in the past bold

EDIT: now i remember why it was set that way...fugly forum links

everything is now bold? it looks so weird:p

Ye this is the problem i remember. As soon as you tell VBulletin to put links in bold it does everything in bold. There's no way to easily apply it to just messages.

How about underlined?

What we did for my forum (Which runs IPB) is we modified the theme a tad, and put the posts template bit in a new div, and applied underlines only to links in that div via CSS.

I'll prolly be redesigning the forum theme from the ground up at some point soon anyway (to match homepage), so as long as its good for the moment ;)
