Lian Li a05 project of fail.

I was considering spraying these ones but tbh they will get chipped and cracked so quickly they will end up looking sh1t in no time at all.

I would get black but these feet dont come in that colour unfortunately. Saw kustompc's had more stock and jumped on it :P

Started on preliminary cable management.

Cut a hole at the top of the mobo tray (rough I know but wont be seen :P)

And now I can do this with the top fan's cable (will plug into cpu fan header)

And started managing the case fan cables (going to be using a molex - 4 3pin cable to power these)

Trying to go for a really clean cable install. Not easy in a case this small. However as long as it looks good through the window when the lights are on I'm not too bothered.

I ebayed mine for £50 incl shipping etc and it was mint.

New your looking at probably £70 for the a05-N which is an improved model with vented slots etc.

These do need modding for a high end gaming rig though. The top blowhole/vent is an absolute must.

thats a great price for a case like that, and i see what you mean by the airflow there doesnt seem to be alot of it :( but i should be able too send the top panel too chilledpc too get a blowhole cut

Yeah, because of the reverse airflow design (intake is at the back) the air gets sucked underneath a long gpu and straight out the front, meaning a pocket of stagnant air builds up above the gpu. This is especially bad for single slot cards that shoot the hot air back into the case, so they essentially recycle thier own hot air!

Really basic mod that lian li should incorporate at stock :P

Got a tiny bit more done on wire management. As far as the yellow heatshrink on the Y adaptor goes, its there for a reason :P. Case fans are on yellow 'shrinked Y adaptor and the rad fans will be on a Red 'shrinked one.

No no guessing which is which :D

All the holes and cable ties that looks kinda messy will be hidden by the mobo so no worries there :D

Baaad things happen when I get bored...

Firstly replaced horribe crosshead screws on IO panel with nice bolts :D

So yes the rig is in, and works and the temps are great.

This install is very basic though, the mobo etc will likely get stripped out again and cables will be properly managed :P

Heheh- but I am nice to look at :P /joke.

Nah once I get the lighting and new gpu cooler there will be much more to see, especially at night or in lower light levels.

Did some more cable management, looks pretty decent through the window. Not perfect but this case is a ******* to cable manage.

Theres a massive thread about the A05 on [H]ard forum, and a tip one of the people said was to flip the HDD's around, which reduces the look of cables :)

Looks nice though, job well done :rocker:
