Lenovo laptops with Windows 10 Signature Edition cannot install Linux

I love that little statement about not intentionally doing it.

Because they didn't have a scandal about not intentionally installing severe malware on their laptops recently...Oh wait, no sorry, they did.

Wouldn't buy a Lenovo anyway.

Why? They make quite good laptops and they scream value especially the low-mid end. I've been very happy with my ideapad 100.... It was the FREEDOS version and I got a license key of my own to put on it...

-Also, works great with Linux Mint :D-

Pro's - ...

Cons - Proprietary keyboard layout, Malware scandal, Battery life amongst the lowest of any manufacturer, RMA process a complete joke, More expensive than Dell in literally every way.

What are you talking about?! Apart from the malware scandal, the battery life is on par with the other notebooks (comparing notebooks in the same price ranges), RMA process isn't something I'll have to deal with because that is all handled by the retailer I got it from -they replace it or fix it in a week- Although people who have bought from other retailers their pick up and return RMA is not bad at all (their trackpad stopped working).

HAVE YOU SEEN DELL PRICES?! For the same price you get a Lenovo with an i3 and 4GB of ram, you get a dell with an atom quad core and 4GB of ram and it won't even have windows on it but Ubuntu

Never liked them, always feel like cheap plastic crap.. honestly the only few laptop's worth getting imo is the XPS 13. Loved using it. That and the Surface Line. All quality. Never liked any other laptop in the low range unless it's on a super sale and Uber cheap.

I'm not a fan of laptops either, I'd rather spend money on a good desktop and get a 200 euro notebook than spend 2K euros on a laptop

You've ordered one? maybe two max?

My PO's for last financial year had 31 Lenovo's, 209 HP's, and 326 Dell's.

Of those, all of the Lenovo's have all been RMA'd due to various faults, mostly surrounding the batteries or power regulation circuitry (average recorded battery life across them was 45 minutes under load) vs Dell which ARE cheaper, and considerably so, average a minimum of 2h37m battery life, and only one needed to be RMA'd due to a defective mainboard.

I think this is not too much of a big deal once people are aware of it... that's the important thing. A lot of 'normal' people don't even know what Linux is, and the tech people will just buy a different laptop.

A lot of small issues like this will build up in people's minds over time though, like Ubisoft releasing unfinished messes. if they keep up this kind of thing their rep may suffer in the long run.

But it is a bit Appleish all the same..
