Larger 1440p Screen than 27"

So are there any? I mean gamer screens of course, preferable 120Hz+. I love my PG279Q, but dang the text is just so tiny. My head is about 80 cm from the screen, and I'm even near sighted.

I thought about 21:9" screens also, but they aren't exactly good for live streaming since I would have to crop it down to 16:9 or letterbox it instead. Neither option is desirable. Also they're too small hehe.

Edit: Just ordered an Omen by HP 32" 1440p 60 Hz screen. This one is actually cheap. Will use as secondary screen

I have that screen you bought. It will do 70hz over Displayport. Both on my Titan X and Fury X.

Mine is a Spectre Bang and Olufsen but yours is a Omen rebrand. You're gonna love it dude.

I read there's some frame skipping issues running it at anything above 61 Hz with a nvidia gfxcard. But it's not really a problem for me, as I will use it for movies/twitch viewing etc.

I run my PG279Q at 120 Hz, so the 60 Hz is fine avoiding issues with gaming on one screen and having playback issues on the second screen (tearing and stuttering etc), which is typically caused by having more than one screen running at uneven Hz. Example run one at 144Hz and another at 60Hz, will cause issues with Adobe Flash in browsers.

Not possible when running G-Sync though as my primary screen. At least I don't think the option is there when it's enabled.

Ah I see. Well you may have issues running the screen over HDMI dude. I have got a bug with Nvidia drivers on this screen running HDMI. It's very, very complicated but to simplify it a little I can not run the screen at 60hz over HDMI. If I do it black screens in everything. Basically the adapter is set to run at 60hz in Control Panel, but if you match that with the Nvidia control panel it black screens.

The only fix is to basically create a custom resolution in the NVCP and set it to 59hz. Apparently this bug is common on 1440p screens, so not just the ones we have.

The only problem is that recently when I tried to do this with a Titan XM (it worked on my GTX 950 !) it kept reverting itself back, so I have not been able to use my Titan XM successfully on this screen running HDMI and I have the Radeon on DP so I can get the Freesync (three rigs on a switch..).

Edit. Please read - important !!

It seems that a combination of new Nvidia drivers and a system update has cured the issue. I can now run at the native system resolution with 60hz and get no black screens.

Cool. That makes things much better for me :)

BTW I forgot to mention. The HP screen is identical to a BenQ 32" costing £200 more. So for an all round screen it's about as good as it gets for the price.

No screen these days, however good it may be, comes without its own set of problems lol. I will be using displayport anyway, since my GTX 1080 has 3 of them so why not.

Edit: Btw I noticed my primary screen supports Fast sync, dunno if this is something G-Sync screens supports only, but it will dump all frames above your chosen refresh rate, hence in theory remove screen tearing and lower input lag compared to adaptive v-sync. It might work better on a 100 Hz+ screen though.

That's a shame. It's been invaluable to me as it makes switching between PCs easier. With all of the crap on my desk it's sometimes hard to reach the monitor controls :D

Get us some pics too man.

Got the new screen today and installed it on my VESA gas-lift arm. Pretty damn awesome screen, I'm already in love with it! Unfortunately it has a single dead pixel in the lower left corner, but I don't believe it's going to cause any annoyance for me, so I'll keep the screen.

Here's a few pics:

Nice one man :D

Shame about the pixel. Seems HP have QC issues because my first screen arrived with a gouge in the bottom right corner. Second one was perfect though.

I love your desk.

32" seems a good size for a monitor as long as it's at least 1440 - I've seen a few 1080 panels that size and it's like watching an old analogue tv. Fuzzy.

I have some things coming up and I'll be moving again to somewhere I can have a dedicated sim rig set up. 3x32s may be a good way to go and will cost about as much as a VIVE so well worth considering. Mind you I'm struggling to push 5760*1080 at full fat graphics settings atm.

Thank you =)

Wouldn't you be better off with a 21:9 monitor? HP is coming out with a new one called Omen X which is a 35" screen 100Hz 3440x1440p and supports G-Sync as well.

Oh yes I want to go single 34" for my desktop. I'm planning on getting an aluminium racing/flight sim chassis which will have it's own monitors and dedicated PC. A single 34" would work well there too but I love the surround effect.

go to http://www.jscreenfix.com/ and leave the fixer running over the dead pixel for an hour or so. I had a bad pixel on my Iiyama display, fixed it nicely for a while, then came back. Rinsed and repeated and has been good since (almost a year later)

That didn't help. The pixel is still dead. But it was worth a try, thank you for the suggestion. I still don't really notice it though, so I'm not so worried about it.
