Hey, I know it's technically not a build, but it is advice

I'm looking at buying a decent mid-range laptop, about £400 budget

I need it for college work, Minecraft, and watching TV/films occasionally.

I am looking for:

i3

500gig HDD (roughly)

At least 3gig RAM

WiFi etc

~15" screen.

Not an essential, but would be an insane bonus if it's 1080.

Cheers

That's the closest I could find for you.

I know it's only 360gb, but in all honesty, would you need that?

I'm a college student myself, and my gaming rig for the past couple of years has had a 500gb HDD on it. That's been enough to store all my college work, all my MANNY games, and I'm also a sound engineer, and all the software for that is atleast 80gb on its own. And I can honestly say, I've never needed any more than 400gb space. But if you're really in need of that much space, a cheap external drive shouldn't push you over your budget

Also I highly recommend overclockers. Fantastic site.

Hope this helps.

Oh dear, my bad. I didn't realise it had no OS. Whoops. Although if you have a disk lying round then I guess it'd be ok.

In all honesty, I can't see why everybody hates Overclockers. Highly stocked, extremely fast delivery, amazing customer service. I asked for a refund once, got it within an hour...And all the manny times I have followed through with my order, got it next day every time, no problems

i'd choose a non-glare type display over resolution or BD-ROM.....you can have all of it but not for 500 to 550...more like 1500 to 1550..:-)

but that's because i use a laptop to work and surf the internet and not to watch movies in complete darkness to prevent the effects caused by natural or artificial sources of light. imho: anything glossy or shiny at a user interface device=bad.

but you might want to have a look at the Vostro series by Dell.
