Laptop monitor slowly dying?

My monitor had a bright spot in the upper right corner for ages, now suddenly pixels started dying. a week ago it was just one or two pixels, but the hole is slowly growing. it looks like a forest fire.
does anyone have experience with this? the laptop is only 3 years old, would be a shame if the monitor would slowly get eaten away by mass suicidal pixels.

what laptop do you have and it might be worth recovering data now, just incase

it's an HP Pavillion dv6. recovering data is completely unnecessary, i have no data on it i would miss and even if there were, i could just plug in the hdd into my pc.

thats fair just thought it would save the hassle, erm i think new screens are around 50-100 pounds. but how long is the limited warranty cos as far as im aware that should cover the screen.

2 years. tbh, if it doesn't spread further i won't care much, not worth the 100 euros.

ah thats fair enough, the only other option is see if your insurer has specific cover for elecronics. other than that there is not much that i think you can do, has the pixel died or is it just discoloured?

there is a very bright spot in the same corner, so that's where it originated from. but that spot has been there for over a year, the pixels just started a week ago.
