Laptop memory heads-up

Just looking for some memory for my nephew`s dell laptop and found that 1x1G of ddr2 = £13.. it`s Corsair Value 5300.. so ??

People.. there is NO excuse for not upgrading that laptop memory right now!

I was expecting alot more tbh.

Yeah I'm shocked by how cheap it is now. I got a 2gb module for my Eee for £20 delivered last week. Unspeakable overkill :)

With a O/C to 900mhz I reckon it could run XP very comfortably.

I popped in 2 x 1gb 5300 Corsair Value into my old laptop, makes such a difference for so little money. Next is the HD :D want a IDE 7200rpm bad boy. Going to have to get it from the US as I can't find one anywhere is stock in the UK.

Talking about laptop upgrades, is it easy to upgrade the CPU???

Depends, I reckon it'd be limited by the cooling prowess of the laptop case, I mean, I assume its not going to be a great plan to throw a fast dual core into a case with tiny sinks and a baby fan. Aside from that I have no idea how easy it is to perform that kind of surgery.

I very much doubt that my laptop can run a dual core, but was looking into a faster single core. If i did do it i would slap some AS5 and maybe a new fan to help things.

Sry for the hijack :S

Only thing to watch with harddrives really is power consumption and indirectly how hot it gets. 5400 to 7200 sounds nice, but u will feel the extra heat and as a result use more power.

Ye, I bought a better battery so it can handle the extra power, I may have to get one of those laptop cooler efforts tho :P
