Kingdom Come Deliverance shatters KickStarter Goal- Will it be the next Star Citizen?

In less than two days the medieval (but not fantasy) RPG kingdom Come: Deliverance has shattered their KickStarter goal of £300,000 with 28 days to go, with a total funding of £334,000 at the time of writing.

Warhorse games updated their KickStarter with this comment;

And so it happens, just 36 hours into our Kickstarter campaign we have reached our goal!

That's really, absolutely, mind-blowingly thrilling. We cannot stress strongly enough how grateful we are to all of you. This resounding confirmation of what we've been working on for almost two years just makes everything worthwhile. We are happy -- and privileged -- to be working on this project and we want to make the best possible game we can, for you.

Now, with our goal reached, it's time for stretch goals and we shall announce the first one tomorrow. I would also like to make one thing clear: we have come to an understanding with our investor that every penny we make above the Kickstarter goal will stay with us and will go toward making Kingdom Come: Deliverance better.

The game will be released toward the end of 2015 on all major platforms, this includes; PC, Mac, Linux, Xbox One and PS4 (provided Sony and Microsoft give permission to release this game on their consoles).

As a studio, Warhorse are new to this industry, but the people behind it are not. Their team has worked on games like Mafia, Mafia 2, ArmA, Operation Flashpoint, Crysis 3, and Forza Horizon, to name a few. Most of them have worked together in the past, so they know each other well. At present they have 35 people in their staff which is now expected to rise to around 75 people in total in order to build such a large RPG.

The developers say that they will be combining the freedom and mechanics of Skyrim, the setting of Mount and Blade, the storytelling styles of The Witcher and Red Dead Redemption, and the tough combat dynamics of Dark Souls into a single, gorgeous Cryengine package.

Offering a Non-Linear story, a revolutionary combat system, unparalleled character customization, a large dynamic world, large battles and more. This is the game that many RPG fans have been waiting for, I know I have and has now became the first and only game I have backed on KickStarter.

What do you guys think of Kingdom Come? I advise all you RPG fans to check out the kickstarter page as it will give you much more information than is shown here.

Do you guys think this will explode in popularity and funding like Star Citizen before it? please comment below.

bloody hell that was fast, gonna get the solider pledge when i get payed

i wanted to back the game as a baron. i really did. but kickstarter has no paypal option and i've got no credit card. fml.

Huh we already have a thread don't we?

The last thread was on the announcement, this a thread on the fact it is now kickStarted successfully.

I also hope Tom facebooks this one because I'm really excited about this game, I want more people to know about it so it can be better funded and done right.

Not that i doubt the developers, they will not release this in a bad state.

One thing i like about this too is that it has a set release period, unlike star citizen which seems to keep being pushed back.

I backed it as a baron, I too was disappointed that there was no paypal option.

i wouldn't normally do something like this or even pre-order games, but this is the game I want and am glad to pay for it so long in advance.

Did any of you guys see the Pope level perks? Get your own hand forged sword! Now that is a perk

i got cru3l139 to pay for me, it's all good :)

I'm surprised they don't have more expensive tiers like many other kickstarters. But yeah glad it succeeded, now I hope it doesn't fail to deliver.

did you go all digital or get a physical copy?

I'm getting really interested at seeing some of their stretch goals.

yeah, some kickstarters are bloody extortionate, i don't know how anyone has the money and can justify paying that.

that being said £1200 is a lot of money but didn't star citizen have ones at tens or a hundred thousand.

It looks a great game but I can't see that I'd be willing to pay them, I'll just pay them when it becomes available to buy!

I wonder if this will support Mantle? Seeing it as its planned to be released in late 2015 the devs have plenty of time to switch over to it and further optimize for it.

Don't know why but i'm not feeling the hype for this game. It looks good, it just doesn't grab me, I need to see more and see some extensive gameplay before i'm sold on it.

I think it's because all my RPG hype is focused on the TW3 and DS2 at the moment.

I am fapping profusely, this looks likes a very promising game I will definitely pop over to their kick starter to support it.

Thats an epic write up - THIS is how news should be posted boys.

Cheers dude ^_^

I hope it adopts Mantle, with some of those large battles I imagine cpu load will be quite high.

The game looks graphically impressive too so anything that will give us better cpu or gpu utilization would be awesome.

That being said I will most likely have moved on from my dual 7870s by that stage so i might no longer use an AMD card.

It'll be as big as star citizen, although I doubt it'll be bigger though as its a genre that has been driven to the ground before.

Also Cryengine makes me worried considering the team don't appear to have worked with cry engine before. Atleast its not Unreal engine though.

I'm happy it's in CryEngine :D
They have a programmer that worked at Crytek on Crysis 3 and one specialist is enough ;)

Oh well, even though no optimization was done to Crysis 3 thats fine if they have atleast one person who knows what to do :P. Also, I never like any game engine but as Star Citizen is Cry engine as well I can now aim to run both on max settings (eventually) so my epeen is satisfied.
