Keyboard and Mouse

Hello,

Not sure where to place this as there is no peripherals section but this will go into my new build which should arrive before Christmas. I am slow, its been a year since I posted seeking advice on a new PC but finally ordered the items through Aria.

I've only bought two branded keyboards and mice Microsoft and Logitech, all mainly low end stuff. And of late only Microsoft hardware as they seem to make good quality hardware at reasonable price.

What I want is a new keyboard and looking at the Microsoft SideWinder X6. It seems like a good keyboard but it has had mixed reviews, anyone have it for a while would like to give input. Features that I like are macros, detachable num-pad and volume wheel. This would be the most expensive keyboard I have ever bought, and would consider other options within the same price if anyone has better suggestions.

Currently I have Microsoft SideWinder X5 Mouse and I find it very good and sturdy mouse. It has 2000DPI and I am not sure if I would notice any higher DPI but would welcome any input. I will most likely stick with the mouse unless I get a brilliant sales pitch. I admit I am very much partial to the Logitech G9x but at £60-69 its a tad on the expensive side.

Thanks

I use the X6 and I like it. All keys are backlit, the volume and back-light adjuster are very useful, media key etc too are useful. I use it without the software because that made a delay in volume control reaction time, maby it's been updated now? I use Logitech's G13 game pad, it has macro, so the X6 doesn't get used much for gaming controls though it's quite good for gaming, it has alot on offer, is sturdy enough and the backlight adjuster allows totaly variable brightness adjustents so we can get it just right for the environment. It can be used without the NUMPAD which is perfect for me because it fits between my G13 and mouse, mainly why I bought it, I tried ROCCAT'S compact keyboard, excellent build quality but not all the keys were backlit, and I need them lit to messag in-game, so swapped it for the cheaper X6. X6's palm rest is good

Why not go for the Microsoft Sidewinder X4. It's cheaper and has gotten positive reviews on most websites.

rolf the price for the X6 has gone up in the span of 24hours, mind you a few items in Aria have also gone up. It was the same price as the SideWinder X4 but now there's a £10. However in Aria the price is under £40 still.

Thanks for the info. Wasn't surprised to read that Microsoft software causes delay, I fear their hardware is much better than their software.

That's what I like, a sturdy keyboard as I can be rough on the keypads. As to macros, I know for a fact I will only need less than half a dozen so it should be more than enough.
