K8N Neo2 - can't connect to Mach2?

I am having some problems with my mach2 since I left it unplugged for a couple of weeks

Basically if i connect a molex to the control board, and then plug in the back of the unit then it just springs to life, with bootloading on the front LCD.

The problem is that I can't get the bootloader or contol software to work - i have the control board plugged into the USB port correctly (MAch2 appears in DM) and i have installed the Mach2 drivers, but i get the USB connection error when i try to run the control software, or if i try to run bootload it just says "not connected" or something like that

The Neo2 has 2 yellow USB headers on the mobo, with a series of 5 pins and a series of 4 below this. I have the usb mach2 cable uplugged into the bottom row of 4

This sounds like the infernal loop problem I've come across several times before. To cut a long story short the firmware has corrupted and it needs to be flashed. The Mach II powers up immediately due to the firmware problemo, so we need to get that USB working - presumably you've reseated the USB? I had this particular problem once before, I restarted the pc and it worked. Try uninstalling the software and removing the Mach II from the DM then trying it again. If this fails we need to look at other options. When you shut the pc down, do you use the on/off button (ie press for 3 seconds) or do you just hit the power switch at the back of the psu?

hello mate how's trix? :D

I tried the usb cable a couple of different ways

I think am gonna try the USB cable in another PC and try to flash it that way - will let you know if this works or not.

I'm very well mate ta!

Yep that should work fine - see what happens.

well that didn't work, I finally got round to hooking it up to another PC and I get the same problem, the machine will recongnise the Mach2 USB device, and allow me to install the driver, and in DM it appears correctly, but I still get the USB cannot connect error from the control software and Bootloader.

When i try to load either the LCD says "Bootloading" then some random characters, then on the line below it says "loading ok"

I take it I need to send this back to you Phil?

Thats wat should happen when you update the Firmware...

yes I know that, expect this isn't norma behavior since the bootloader software cannot link to the unit to reflash the firmware.

I think the control board is messed up :(

actually can I not just buy another controller board and install it myself, or remove the existing one and send it to you Phil?

It would make it a hell of a lot cheaper and easier if I didn't have to send the whole damn unit!

good luck in gettin one of those mate :p

I had the same problem as you with my NF7s v2. Sent it back to Phil and he got it all workin great for me. Cheers Phil :D.
