K just to clear out some things (BigADV)...

Is it me or is the P2684 not such a good (slow[er]) BigADV (PPD wise) WU ?

already at 20% so definitely not deleting this one

Still more then the normal small WU's

2684 was the only A3 -bigadv WU until just recently. iirc they just released a 2692. The points on the current -bigadv WU's are not as good as the old A2's, and only a little better than the regular SMP2 WU's.

The first BigADV WU i had was much better then any WU i ever had !

and even this one is better then a A2 WU...

I was refering to A2 -bigadv WU's......

Oops sorry mate was not paying attention

going to try to get my main rig to work again as i need to finish this BIG WU before 27Aug if i start my rig up tonigh i might make it, WU is at 27%..

Decieded to give -bigadv another try, points look to be better than I thought. on a 2685 atm and doing 25K+ and with the 460's at 11.5K eack that's 48K+ on a single rig

Steve, are you taking an SMP PPD hit when running the 460 cards too? I'm getting worse performance on my 4.4GHz i7 than on my 4GHz i7 right now.

I'll put -bigadv on the other i7 this evening, it has a GTX260 and GTX275 running GPU2 and see what the PPD looks like.

Cool. Cheers dude. I'm not sure if the Classy just has looser timings that I need to fix or if it's just the GPU causing it. Do you have Physx set to CPU or Auto?

Flag is set for 2nd i7, about 8 frames to go on existing WU. Physx set to auto on GPU3 machine and disabled on GPU2 machine which is running 197.45 drivers.

OK got both i7's on -bigadv the i7 with the 460's is definitly faster on SMP and it always has been faster even when it was running 2x gts250 and that is on the rampage II GENE. The P6T has 6G ram and the GENE has 3G ram and faster timings especially on secondary, not sure if that's all of the difference though. P6T has a 920 C0 and GENE has 930 D0 both at 4G. I have seen some smp performance numbers showing 930 as being a bit faster than 920's at like clocks.

I think some more of the difference is in GPU3 cpu usage and GPU2 cpu usage with GPU3 being more cpu friendly, this was also my initial obvservation after the release of GPU3.

Ah, I'm experiencing the exact opposite at the moment.

GPU3 is killing my SMP2.

I've read that using -smp 7 will fix it but I don't know if I want to lose a whole core...

leave the flag at -smp , and set the GPU3 clients to "idle" rather than "low" as "recommended" and see what happens....

Both types of Clients are set to IDLE but I'll drop the Core number and try that.

EDIT: They were set @ LOW... O_o ...I've set them back to IDLE and dropped the "8" from the flag.

You did restart SMP2 and GPU3 after making the changes?

This will probably cost a little GPU PPD, but the increase in SMP2 PPD should more than make up for the loss. SMP2/A3 seems to be more CPU usage sensitive than pasts SMP projects. I changed all of my cards to "idle" shortly after the A3 WU's introduction.

Yeah, I even deleted and reinstalled my SMP2 just to be safe. Everything is setup as per your recommendations now, just gotta wait and see. Cheers for the help dude.

Well for no reason at all it suddenly started working again. After all the changes it was still slow and bugging me but I figured I'd just leave it alone, points are points after all. I wake up this morning and it's tearing through a 2684 like a hot knife through butter.
