JDM_GT WC TJ11 AMD RIG

Just awesome.

How are you finding the bulldozer? I'm gonna buy one because I think it's just intel fanboys trying to put a good processor down

BDs fine tbh, single core performance is a bit meh but overclocked to 4.5ghz it matches a 2600k on cinebench so it cant be that bad especially when the 8120 with £20 cashback is £100 cheaper than a 2600k

when u have 3 7970's it does struggle. i get high 8k scores in 3d11 with 1 card and my best so far is mid 13k. 3 cards with a 3960x scores 22k. i have the cash so why not go to x79. i have just stayed with amd cause of the easy upgrades with newer gens.

also i just bought some 3m white carbon fibre dinoc film. black is going to change. when ttl did the shinobi i was a bit bummed because i was going to do it before he had, so im not copying tom ok. lol. who cares anyway when its gonna look awesome.

Ordered my waterblocks yesterday from ek.

EK-FC7970 - Acetal+EN (Nickel). x3

EK-FC7970 Backplate - Black. x3

EK-VGA I/O bracket HD7970. x3

by getting straight from ek it saves me around $100 that's including express postage.

AU$ 454.61. total.

cant wait now to get started. going to strip down the whole case and try a "less is more" type build.

more pics. my camera skills are getting better. (i think). they are probably too clear you can see specs of dust and hair in some pics. oh well. not edited at all either.

looking epic (for an AMD rig
biggrin.gif
) just kidding lol I like it

yeah i wonder how many crazy ppl out there spend this much on a amd rig. hahah. going to upgrade to x79 when all the cooling is in and done. i dont know of any. hey but it is different. lol

got my blocks. put one together. looks so awesome. took me about 2 hours to do 1 block. that is block backplate and rear io. gonna wait till next week to do others, prob gonna cover the backplate in white carbon. i get that on monday. and get tubing next week. ill try and get pics of the block together.

pics time. today on eks facebook they announced:

"Caution. We have been warned about a change on some AMD reference HD 7970 graphics cards (AMD 109-C38637-00) which now use one capacitor slightly higher (about 1mm higher) than what it was originally.

EK has already responded to the change and is now selling modified version that fit past this capacitor.

Use of old, original EK-FC7970 on these changed cards may result in burned graphics card! Please double check the height of all capacitors prior to installing the water block."

got home and checked and i was lucky that i bought on release and have no problem. anyway my first try at doing this and it is really hard on the corners to get a perfect fit. but i think it will look fine once its in the case. this goes out to ttl

edit: cant really see the carbon look, ill have to get some more pics.

3 7970's under water. I think i may love and possibly steal ths rig

I was thinking of going to four when i get on x79. But then i would need two psu's and i don't want that. i need the room for rads. prob three overclocked will stress my psu as is. ill have to do some testing to find out.

driver issues with 4 cards wouldn't be worth it anyway IMHO, glad your gunna go X79 though, so much awesome but then bulldozer :L Bulldozer is amazing under cold though, would love to have a chip to play about with, when i get my money i will
