Ivy Bridge vs Sandy Bridge - The Many Questions

My wild guess for i7-3770K the initial selling price is around £250, i5-3570K is around £180.

It seems that the CPU will be available to purchase starting this Sunday April 29

Here is some history pricing in Amazon UK for i5-2500k and i7-2700k one year ago:-

I am kind of glad that Ivy turned out this way because I've just recently bought 2700k and I really didn't want to have to upgrade just yet so it turned out fine for me... Next up Haswell

even though IB has a TDP raiting lower than SB, every review I read that tested power IB used more power than IB.

The reason Is 40% more transitors running in the iGPU, that we will hardly ever use

The heat issue Is because the 26% smaller die cant get rid heat, it was suposed to use less power in the smaller die but it actally uses more power per square mm than SB

Price wise I cant pay more for IB than SB, Intel gets 26% more chips out of each wafer, and it doesn't out preform it by 26% and it uses more power and heats up more so it cost me more to run

Honestly if i was buying a laptop IB would be at the top of my list, but in almost every test ran that pesky 3820 CPU was nipping on its heals

The pros and cons of IB seem to make it pretty much equal to SB tbh. I'm 100% getting a 2600k if there are still some in stock in 2 and a half weeks time.

Overall I am not willing to pay £50 more for a chip which offers minimal changes. PCI 3.0 is useless to me until way after haswell as I won't be changing this system to PCI 3.0 GPUs ever, never mind the fact that there is barely any difference yet. SB is worth the £200+ for 2600k's but £240 + for IB, not a chance. I've 100% made my mind up now and think IB is for people who want the future features which I will never need on this board/CPU
200+ for a 2600k ? ouch . I'm moving to the uk ...its over $300.00 in the states
