iTunes 7 Problem

Yesterday I got the new iTunes 7. After installing it I started playing my music like always and i started getting this weird crackling in the backround of my music  . It goesn't do it the whole time. It will sound good then it will start getting crackly for a while then it will sound good again. Today, I uninstalled itunes and reinstalled it and had the same problem. Thinking it might be my music, i went to my itunes music folder and selected a song and played it with WMP and it sounds perfectly fine.

Any ideas becasue i am stumped.

Hey Pat, I would probably just stick with the older version of iTunes. Also you could try calling Apple and telling them what your issue is and see if they have any suggestions to help you.

you are not the only one with this issue, I have read many complains about this on other boards and blogs... Peoples start complaining that iTunes 7 has became a blotware, slow and resource hungry!!! But it maybe only a problem with the windows version as mac users do not seem to report this issue...

I myself stick with the previous version until I see less negative feedback...

i have this! it seems they've buggered the directsound implementation. as when i use ventrilo and someone talks it goes haywire and sounds awful... (vent uses direct sound)

BUT to add to that i can't play my music at any other volume other than 100% otherwise it crackles and sounds awful too :( so i lose, well we lose :(

i've tried re-installing, driver re-install everything :( but nothing works

try playing your music at 100% iTunes volume.

i'm glad i'm not the only one with this problem :( they better fix it

Yeah, full video support :) I love it! I've been buying South Park seasons and Beavis & Butthead seasons through the iTunes store, it's awesome! You can buy and download feature movies too, so pimp.

my music sounds like

I'm going to throw my pc out of the window if this crackling doesn't go away...

The thing is, the crackling/popping/jumping is on everything now - games, music, films. Using core/media player/divx/anything to play anything the snap cracke and pop is there.

I tried the fixes from the above link provided by MikeEnIke; no joy.

I've been running spyware/anti virus programs all day, following the guide on here 'removing browser hijacks, virus & spyware' my system seems clean.

When I boot up now, after the asus splash screen there is a long pause of say 5-10secs of blank screen, then the xp splash come up and times out for like 30sec before the OS starts to load. Once booted everything seems ok but slower... System performance has dramatically dropped - itunes is only using 2% of CPU when playing mp3s

Is anyone else getting this? It all started with the crackling. I'm going mad here. Help!

I never had trouble with any other sound other than the itunes sound. Have you tried removing itunes and removing the library extention thing that comes with it. I know when I went back to itunes 6 it wouldnt work because the library was all screwed up by itunes 7 and i had to delete some extention it had made in order for it to work.

I dont know if that was any help but i guess its worth a try.

I'm not sure I don't have the new iTunes 7 but they probably would have still asked if I would like to download update right? What version do you have? The newest for Windows is iTunes 7.0.1.

Yup thats the new version for Mac as well. Everyone should make sure and update, might fix the popping and cracking problem without having to perform any sound mods to get it working right. I'm sure they've worked a few other bugs out of it as well.
