Is three monitors a lot for work?

Hi all,

My questions is about: -- Is three monitors a lot for work? --

Let me begin with everything that's runs when i work:

Two windows of Chrome one for front-end (my website) and one for the back-end editing,i have alot of other tabs open with both windows.
Windows media player or VLC running with music all the time,
Skype
Notepad++ for coding (php,css,html...etc)
Thunderbird.

1.Chrome x2
2.WMP or VLC
3.skype
4.Notepadd++
5.Thunderbird

I have two 18.5" monitors.

There is sometimes more software running depending on what i'm doing,

Question:

When i work it feels like i am restricted because both chrome windows must be full screen so when i need to check code i need to hit notepad++ on my tray or i have to move my chrome window.

So is it just me or do i need another monitor?
Thanks for reading,Best regards.

Not really a question we can answer I don't think...

...and tbh, I think you've already answered it yourself:

It jut depends on your needs doesn't it, I think 2 is about ideal, but I don't do loads of working at my computer, so if you feel like you'd benefit from an extra monitor, get one :)

If I had space for 3 I would definitely use them all. Imo, more monitors = easier to increase productivity. If you feel that you are restricted and you have the money to spend on an extra monitor then do it, you wont regret it.

3 monitors is the minimum I like to use when coding.

Not when you have lots of windows.. it's much harder to quickly organise them without something like hydravision.

Makes sense, i just figured higher screen real estate would help more than just another 1080p monitor

i moved from 1600X900 to 1920x1080 and it has given me much more room to play with but i still feel like i don't have quite enough room but not to the point where i can live with it.

Thanks everyone!!

It looks like 3 is the ideal amount for coding and a better workflow - i do some gaming but my GPU is not that powerful anyway.

just imagine if we all were still using the old Box monitors (eyefinity at it's best hahaha:lol:)

thanks again for the input.:wavey:
