Is this ram decent?

so basically im stuck with a laptop for the next few month, so i decided to buy a SSD and ram for it, currently i have stock 3gb samsung ram, and stock samsung hdd, so i bought these 2,

2 of Kingston Technology KTL-TP3C/4G 4GB 1600MHz SODIMM Memory Module

Samsung 840 Series Pro 128GB 2.5 inch SATA Solid State Drive

will they be ok? and i know i can get 250+ gb of ssd, just i only really need it for windows and games, all the other stuff like pictures and just stuff i download and are not really important will go on my external hdd, so yeah, what sort of performance upgrades will i see, if any at all?

also yeah, i know 8gb is alot for a laptop, but the 3gb i have right now im using like 80% of it when gaming, and thats only on low settings, 95%+ on high settings,

RAM doesn't matter a whole lot. should be fine

Should see a massive boost with the use of that SSD. RAM is RAM mostly, you might not see much in the way of speed increase but from 3GB to 8GB you should be able to multitask more.

You will see much more of a boost from the SSD, it's the "go to" upgrade if you want to go faster.

Yeah, i know the ssd will give a big boost in boot time and app load time, an the only reason i upgraded ram is since im buying a 3d printer and need to render stuff, and since im using about 2.3 gb of it just playing a game, i had a feeling i needed more

in the realm of rendering and 3D printers my knowledge is limited but 8GB should be ok. Got 8GB myself and been able to run as much as I've wanted without getting close to my 8GB total.

250 gb of SSD i hope you have a lot of games @_@, with the cost of a 250 SSD you could start to build a decent gaming pc, laptops are not design to be playing in them, if you want a gamming laptop, you should buy alienware or, pick the pieces your self and build one, it really depends what your running in it, if your just playing games, i rather have a laptop with windows xp light version, instead of windows 7 or 8, and that will be enought to speed up your gamming, asuming your laptop has a graphic card.

to render stuff, depends how much is your work at.
for me 8 gb are not doing the job, even converting a video to mp4 is a completly stupid nonsence task.

if your rendering pieces like motor parts, nails and so on, it will be just fine. autocad doesnt take that much out of your soul, if your doing 3d modeling(game/animation related), get a desk pc

just hoped you checked to see if the extension of ram would be compatible with your laptop, some cant take much more than whats in them

To the person who said RAM doesn't matter a whole lot, it kinda does. Just depends on if what you're doing is RAM thirsty. To answer your question, yes. That RAM is perfectly fine, 8GB's is usually decent for most, and don't need any faster. And yes to that SSD as well. Considering you also have a HDD, 128GB's is usually alright. Intel 330/Samsung 840/Any of Corsairs range are all decent.
