is this ram a good choice

nope nope nope nope nope nope nope nope nope nope.
it's better to pay a few $ more, else you will regret it. i know i did.

considering ram is relatively cheap i wouldn't get a 1333mhz kit when you can get 1600 or even 1866 for not a huge amount more.

Personally i'd recommend 8gb of vengeance if you're on a tight budget. it'll be worth spending/saving a bit more

I'd check your motherboard Memory Supported List (QVL) before buying anything.....

The last thing you want is to buy 1600mhz ram only for your motherboard to run it at downclocked speeds of 1333....

^^ I made this mistake.... Corsair XMS3 1600 running at 1333....

This surprises me - I'd expect all major brands and common types of memory to be supported. Have you tried setting the memory up manually?

yea, I tried everything from setting the XMP profile to manually setting it up, even giving it an over voltage upto 1.57v with a fan blowing, No matter which way I try to run it at 1600 it fails and I get the bios error asking to load fail-safe's

Some higher end motherboards like the Asus P8Z77-V don't have a Memory QVL so all types of memory work as stated..

(I really should edit my signature saying that ram is downclocked)

I just had to send back some RAM because it wouldn't work at it's rated speed on an mPower machine (even though the manufacturer has several kits which have been tested). Have you used HCI Memtest to see if your RAM is actually working properly even at 1333?
