Overclockability of oem style ram

Hi all

Part of my business activities means I can get some hardware at pretty good prices (ex vat from an EU distributor).

Looking at their ram offerings they have some Samsung ddr4 of decent speeds and more importantly sweet prices.

I've always gone for the latest corsair performance ram with heatsinks

288-pin DDR4 Unbuffered DIMM Non-ECC 2Gx64 (2Rx8), PC4-17000 (DDR4-2133)
Manufacturer name: Samsung
Item no.: 2192179
Reference number: M378A2K43BB1-CPB

Will cost about £50. Likely to be any good for a semi decent oc?

Sorry that's for 16gb stick

May stick with my current rig and get two sticks of 8gb ddr3 - but again standard hynix/samsung.

Then again how much modern overclocking of the CPU relates to the ram used.

£50 for a single stick? Blimey.

You should only need DDR4 if you perform a major upgrade like a 5820k or better. Going on your other post where you say you have a 4.5ghz 3570k I would not bother with Skylake at all really.

Yeh think so.

RAM DDR3 8GB / PC1600 /UB/ Samsung / x2 would be £50 for 16gb.

Suck it and see I suppose :)

Yeah need to sit down and have a look at my other distributors. Had a quick look at the prices arent as good as some stuff they do.
