is this number right??

Your card should be on the blue PCI slot (which u probably already done) and that ex selector card should be in single video card mode. (which u probably already done aswell)

so, i played a bit with my motherboard, meaning i switched the "dual video card" "single video card" thingy, and put the card in the first and second pci express slots, in the end i put the switch on "Dual Video Cards" mode, then put the card in the primary (Blue) slot and turned on the computer, and now CPU-Z tells me i'm on 8X.

games do work better now, but still it's only 8x, any idea on what the hell i changed, and what can i change to make it go to 16x?

You cant.

I had a suspicion when I checked your mobo it confirmed it. 650i doesn't support x16 or x8 for two slots. It never has and never will do x16 the reason being its a budget chipset and nVidia want you to pay for the better performance.

Sorry dude

Where exactly did you read this?

well, if you wanna know what i did to get it to 8x, i actually don't have a good explanation. all i can say is that i tried putting the card in the secondary pci-e slot, changed the "Dual/Single" card thingy to Single, then retuened it to the primary slot, and back to "Dual Mode".

if you think of it, it makes sense that i only get 8x now that i'm on Dual Video Cards mode, but when i tried putting it in single, the screen didn't get any input from the card, so basiclly i'm stumped and have no idea what the hell to do now.

i will try putting it in single mode again, but don't excpect much. anyways thanks again everyone.

And u did try going to single mode and using the other pcie slot ?

Other than that, an ASUS user would have to instruct on what to do with the bios to make it do as it`s told. Some peg setting I'd imagine.

I had two of these boards, and x16 worked with no sweat.

Using the top (blue) slot and the add in card in single mode. Bare in mind that the text on the card needs to be upside down for the mode you want, ie single card mode will have the dual card label the right way up. You've prob tried iut buit its worth a mention.

ok, so now, the "dual/Single" switch thingy is one "Dual" mode, since when the computer is standing up right the "Single" is the one i can read not upside down.

so should i try switching it to single mode (meaning the dual would read correctly)?

A Tom's hardware review :( which was clearly wrong.

If your only getting x8 with card as it is then switch it round to get x16 (remember to check BIOS is set to x16 also)

so, if anyone is intreasted, i have solved my problem!!!

seems like the problem was the "Dual/Single" video card thingy.

i'm assuming it wasn't sitting well at first, that's why i only got x1 at first, then i put it in correctly but on Dual video card mode, so i only got x8 bandwith. finally i inserted it correctly in Sigle video card mode, and now i'm getting full x16 bandwith.

so thanks again for everybody who tried to help although there wasn't really anything you could have done, it was just me being stupid in the end :)

Good thing is u got it working.

Best thing is u replied after the issue was solved
