Others would have to comment on the chipset being any good, but as far as ECS are concerned, I place them minimally below ASRock in my personal manuf list.

Both manufs make minimally solid boards, and past ASRocks I`ve taken ownership of have actually clocked for a %.

But especially in the states, users have bought ECS boards b4 I`ve stepped in (due to being nicely priced usually) and I`ve not had any issues with them from stock.

It`s all imo of course.

I can vouch for the chipset, I love Nforce 6.

It has been really good for me, very stable and a very good overclock.

It has 1 quirk in that both the x16 PCI-E physical slots are hard-wired to x8 rather than having the single x16/dual x8 on other 650i SLI mobos.

ECS mobos arent good for oc'ing tbh, fine for normal use tho. why doesnt your friend have a look at Asus 650i its pretty cheap and oc's nicely
