Tbh, that's not that big a difference.
How is yours being cooled? Might not be a particularly stable overclock, resulting in worse scores - 1420mhz is very high...
Could be drivers too.

Maybe even down to possible malware or just general use and slow down on the OS over a longer period of time.

Bare in mind, to run those tests, I closed down every single program I had open, including steam and skype... The only open icons in the tray were the keyboard and mouse software, afterburner and my soundcard software.

It could be down to anything really - and in all likeliness, it'll be software/unstable overclock related.

It won't if it's hardware throttling. Your clocks will be shown as the same.

Set the card to stock and run heaven again dude. Honestly, when I was overclocking my 6970 Lightning I got to a point where my benchmark scores were actually worse than on lower clocks.
