Is my video card dying?

Ok, so got rid of the errors and got 12.1 driver installed on the card, That version was very stable last time I used it.

Installed BF3 again, played a few rounds. Much better than before, but things just look a little off, slightly blurry almost, and started getting a little more of that pixelation. It even crashed once when I set it to Ultra in the settings. Then tried single player but it crashed and gave the following error...

So thinking maybe the card has an issue other than driver. Have noticed a few little issues, such as sometimes when watching a youtube video the progress bar looks like it has blurry edges sometimes, some with some small text on some sites, but not everywhere. Some things just look like they are in LQ sometimes.

That's the same error I get when I OC too high and open up unigine benchmark, is the card overclocked? If not its most defiantly the card just unstable! Do you have warranty ?

Firstly I'm impressed you got the video done.

Can you play other games flawlessly still ?

.. I'm thinking along the lines of an experience I had with Crysis2. It would do similar to that, then suddenly an update came out and it magically went away.

Can you remember applying any BF3 patches before that perhaps you havent now ?

(in the past we'd probably all be telling you your graphics memory is being stressed too much for some reason)

Got it in one

No it is not overclocked, and I do not know about warranties , this is the card I got in my Prize rig from Tom last year. I have no Paperwork on it.

Tried the game again today, and its real bad, video below is at medium settings at first half, and then lowest video settings at later half and still bad. Going to uninstall BF3 and try a different game.

unrelated post, but about the amd bug's. i have a 5770, i run 2 monitors, if i oc the card i get horrible screen glitches, like one of my screens looks like a crt thru a camera.... but on standard clock it runs fine. and on my gf's pc with a 4650, with the latest driver on any clock it does the same thing, but on a 12month old driver it works just fine. but the second screen is just too usefull to stop using just to be able to overclock, so im just gonna buy a better gpu, prob's a 570 or equivalent.

Uninstalled BF3 and uploaded Duke Nukem Forever, Not as stressful a game as BF3, but I have it with graphics maxed out and not seen one issue yet, after I finish this game I will try something a little more GPU heavy and see how that goes.

Installed Mass Effect 3 today, played both Online multiplayer and single player, No video issues at all, For some reason I just can not play BF3. I am wondering if there is some special Patch I need to download for Battlefield 3, outside the latest main card drivers and the stuff BF3 patches automatically. Can not figure out why all other games run just fine but battlefield 3 does not. Especially when I had it installed last time it ran fine, with settings at ULTRA, now, just going into the graphics settings and clicking on ultra, the game crashes, not even playing on ULTRA, just choosing it in the graphics options page. And even with graphics at the lowest settings possible the game in unplayable.

Dude, a new patch is out today. Check if you can download it. It might make a difference.

Update...

Ok so re-installed the game (BF3). Tried playing with graphic settings at AUTO, which sets many of the options to ULTIMATE but not all. Played for an hour or so with no problems, no graphic issues.

Then went to options an up to the graphic master setting, clicked it till it got to ultra then the computer froze up like before, had to use task manager to close out all open windows.

So not sure what is going on, but if the card just plays like it did today on AUTO settings, I have no issue with that, still looked very nice.

Just confused as to what the issue is. I will live with it as is, just hope it does not get worse, Can not afford another card for a few months at least. I may have to just be happy playing on the new green/black rig i am going to win in a day or two here lol.

Just an update, I have installed the game again recently, I now play with everything maxed out and not getting any graphic issues what so ever, runs like a champ. So do not know what issue was, but just glad it has sorted itself out.

That sounds a bit odd...
What brand is the card and what model?

It could be an actual problem with the card, but it sounds more like a driver issue, or an issue with the software.

Does this occur in any other game or benchmark? If it doesn't then its just the game and your card is fine.
Reinstall the game & maybe leave out the latest update.
