IPS 5ms vs TN 1ms 'MLG' monitor?

I want to know which is better, the Benq RL2455HM or the AOC i2367Fh. I'd like good picture quality and since they both have matte screens I'm deciding between the two. I know the IPS has better picture but the BenQ will most likely be better for gaming. I'd like to know if I should go with a high performance gaming monitor or a crisp IPS display monitor.

IPS in my opinion, especially when the is just fast response, but not even 120hz.

You'll be happier with the IPS.

Gaming monitors aren't worth it, you've got to remember that very few people have gaming monitors and as such you're not going be at a disadvantage if you don't have one. IPS all the way!

I've been using an IPS for almost 4 years now and I've never felt I was being held back or killed because of my monitor, I just make sure vsync is disabled on multiplayers. I've never personally used a 120hz/lower ms but I don't think I could ever give up the amazing colours an IPS brings.

IPS makes the colors come to life....that is all.....when i got my first IPS i was blown away by the colors! reds are actually red and not pink, yellow is yellow not beige, blue still looks blue tho....

I bought IPS cant tell any response lag or anything i think the colours look a lot better than LCD.

What is the point in getting an "Uber fast gaming monitor" when you can't distinguish who the hell is on your team due to colors being awful? IPS well at least make everything look nice and pretty while still being barely slower.

Not if you ever so slightly move your head away from the center of the tv on a TN panel... viewing angles are horrific.

Yeah you did over exaggerate this a bit fella. I have a Dell TN and a Dell IPS, while the colour production is much-much better on the IPS, the viewing angles on the TN aren't 'horrific'. If you get a shit panel, then yes they will be shit, but decent TN panels aren't that bad mate.

Also when you're gaming on the screen and "looking for team-mates" you're hardly going to be leaning outside the viewing angle of the screen are you? Colours are still fine when you're sitting straight in front of it.. Bit of a stupid comment that one if you ask me.

I would take IPS any day of the week unless I was about to go to MLG to play a professional tournament. TN monitors accomplish the 1ms response time by sacrificing colour accuracy, gamut and viewing angles, so while the screen would be more responsive (however marginal), but what you see would be a duller display and tbh I would say a response time of below 8ms should be fine but idealy 5ms or below in my experience anyway for 60 FPS gaming. If you want to go for a gaming monitor I personally think 120Hz or 144Hz monitor would be more important than 1ms response time.

I would get a 120HZ monitor if I could but with the GPU I'm getting it will be a bit of a waste of money and I don't want to spoil my self with that quite yet. I might buy my friends old XL2420T as he has gotten 3 of the 27 inch ones.
