iPod Classic

I will start by explaining why i chose the iPod classic, i started by owning a mk1 iPod touch, it was a good device, but i didn't keep it too long, that was shortly after they first came out, i then, a lot later, bought a mk2 iPod touch, 8gb, sold that, then bought a mk4 iPod touch 8gb, and gave that to a good friend of mine, so i only had my iPhone, and my iPad, and the fact my iPhone was 16Gb, wasn't sufficient space for any decent quantity of music, so i decided, just to make sure i could play a long choice of music, to buy an iPod, with plenty of space, a 64Gb iPod touch turned out to be more expensive than a 160Gb, so that seemed like a daft choice when what i wanted was a music player, not a fully functioning device that can download apps and do plenty of things, just a good music player that was reliable, and was going to last me for ages, and has brilliant build quality, and i adore apple products, so i couldnt possibly justify my money going to any other company for an inferior music player, in my opinion.

So, without further ado, lets go onto something i just want to add before the pics commence, there are roumers that apple is going to remove the ipod classic from the ipod line up due to lack of sales, Source, iPod Classic Removal From Sale, Rumer.

So, onto the review, i purchased mine from apple's refurbished section, after reading about what makes an apple refurbished product, i was talked into parting with less money for the same quality...

See here: Refurbished Apple Product buying guide

I have to admit, i did expect my ipod classic to come in the box it is advertised in, which looks like this:

However, mine arrived looking like this:

It comes in a new box, and in as good as brand new condition.

Opened up, i find it held in place with something that resembles rather strong clingfilm, but the iPod itself is also wrapped in tight plastic, like brand new, every possible precaution has been taken to ensure this refurbished product reaches you in perfect condition.

As you can see it comes with all the accessories that come with a brand new one, the cable, headphones, dock adapter, and booklets are all brand new.

Lets get it out and look at the iPod, in all its glory:

It works perfectly, its in immaculate condition, and it does exactly what i want, it takes a shedload of music, and then some, and a bit more, and more, and more, and still has room to spare.

So, there isnt much more i can say, lets sum it up to finish.

Pro's

  • Price Reduced due to being Refurbished
  • Comes in immaculate conditon
  • Comes in a good quality box.
  • Does exactly what it says on the box, perfectly

Averages:

  • Box the refurbished one comes with is not the original box

The Bad:

  • If bought none refurbished, awfully expensive at £199.
Thanks for reading.

Nice review. But why would you buy a ipod when you have a iphone. I see this all the time on the train or the bus, People using ipods when they have a iphone in there hands. WHY.

Nice review, but it doesn't look like it was packaged securely at all, lol. Wasn't there any foam padding to prevent movement in the box? And I also wonder the same thing as above.

I like to keep my ipod for parties and the like when i can't fit all my music on my iphone. I don't really take my ipod out of the house though, it just stays in the dock. Well it used to, until someone stole my iphone, grrrrr. I love the classic.

And also this will save the battery of my iphone which is ...meagre at best

As for the packaging, the clear film was pulled so tight that movement was impossible, and the cardboard was wedged so tight that that couldnt move either...i was happy with it

It hasnt, but its technology and thus, imo, of interest, i mean look at the comments so far, it obviously causes debate and convo

Cool. I had a 60GB version way back, which I loved. I broke it and haven't gotten one since. I may buy one now though

Personally I've got about 50 gigs of music alone, so I can see why some would need/want the extra space.

I wish they would update the Classic though, ipod touch style screen but with a 160gb HDD would be perfect for me.

@ Ionicle, good review but please don't use the stock earphones if you can avoid it

yup me gots 52.9GB of music and still increasing, i also see why you would need 160GB of space hence the reason why i opted for the 64gb iphone rather than 32gb.

Im also looking to pick up one of these 160gb ipod classics now aswell
