as the title says, this is my project 3200+

it is intended to be the most powerfull pc in my house (which considering its compertition isnt too hard)

the current most powerful pc, is the downstairs one, shared by all, which i custom built a couple of years back, spec:

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ newcastle core, 130Nm 754, 512mb l2 cache

DFI Lanparty Nforce 3 Ultra-D

1Gb Corsair XMS DDR400

120Gb Maxtor IDE ATA-133

ATi Radeon 9800 pro AGP

Thermalright XP-120

Hiper R 580W

Lian LI PC-7 Plus

the intended spec for this project, is somthing along the lines of:

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 939 Venice core (HAVE)

Motherboard (cheep, as i have limited finances, and most went on the case)

Ram: 512mb of somthing or other, cheep

Graphics: X300 PCI-E (HAVE)

Hard drive: Samsung Spinpoint SATA-2 80Gb (HAVE)

Fans: SilenX 120mm x2 (HAVE (thanks XMS ))

Cooler: Stock, probably, dont have one yet

Case: Akasa Mirage 62 (HAVE)

Psu: i dunno yet, somthing, not too cheep, but not too expensive, doesnt need to be too powerful though..

Lighting: the usual array of 12" CCFL's y'know, ebuyer tack

i have a lot, a LOT of questions for you then

as for this server (i think i shal make it my server)

currently, in my house, what i have, is 2 laptops, and 2 computers

Computer: downstairs

Computer: Server

Laptop: Spare

Laptop: Ian Laptop

Downstairs is connected directly to the router, and both laptops are connected to the router directly, through wireless

server is connected to the router, through a switch, it goes through a 45 meter cable, to the switch, from the router, then to the pc, from the 8 port netgear switch

before, from Ian Laptop, when it had vista, i could access server (which has an External E-SATA drive, with all my music, pic's, video's etc on) and sttream them

but with ununtu on my laptop, i cant, please pm me if you know how to do that...or, actually, i'll start a new thread related to just that...

as for this, what i want to do, is perhaps put a linux, server edition onto the computer, and use it as my server instead of my windows XP Server i have atm, its XP home edition, and it streams just fine, but i can then use that as just a computer, AND, i will be able to access my data from all my pc's, linux, or otherwise, i hope, or so is my plan

i wouldnt mind some ideas on what version of linux server is easiest to set up, and work with, and means i can stream anything to anything

downstairs pc, has xp pro, spare laptop has xp home, current server has xp MCE, and ian laptop has linux ubuntu

EDIT(i like being able to edit again) the bios is in arabic, so i dont understand a word of it...is there a language option? i've been googling, but i cant find one...incase anyone knows

Im glad you went for some proper parts rather than the super budget ones .

Now lock your phone in a safe, feed the key to the dog (possibly repeated times) for 2 months so you can afford a graphics card. I rekon a 6/7800GT would be the best finishing touch & they can be had for peanuts now

Ionicle, how high can u set the vcore on that board? On my a8n-sli SE the max is 1.5, and on my 3500+ it was 1.55
