InWin showcase two cases with wooden parts

I've personally never liked InWin cases at all.
Me neither. It's like every one of their cases has something wrong with it that ends up being a deal-breaker. They're almost entirely form over function. They tend to lack features that I want to see in a case and more often than not they have an abysmal "innovative" interior for no reason whatsoever. And top it off they're insanely overpriced for what they offer.

It is like they are trying to hard to be different. They have some brilliant designs, but again as you have said they have one thing that ruins it completely. They need to be more conventional.

I like reading all the debate and conversation about cases and case designs as they are so polarizing. Wood and glass can make for an interesting combination because they almost cross over into mainstream furniture design. Inwin have certainly done a good job about getting people to talk about them.

In some ways I quite like the idea of having a PC thats like a piece of designer furniture where everyone can see it.

Mahogany is my favourite choice of wood :)

Im a guitarist so love mahogany. I spoke to a guitar luthier friend about making a piece of wood for a custom case (in exchange for helping him water cool his pc) He has a cnc machine so im debating making my own custom case for a project.

I really like the idea of a wooden case. The Modder in me would want to change the wood for something a bit more interesting. A piece of flamed maple would make a great build.
Oh now that sounds delicious, maybe a maple or rosewood neck style with inlayed frets. I'd love to see a Purple heart case but damn the wieght and finding someone to machine it for you..

I really enjoy woodwork my mum is an Amateur Field archer and has her bow custom made out of yew, my stepfather makes their arrows its quite a niche skill to have :).

Yes! Or a nice piece of Cocobolo or Ebony, something that blends in with metal a little neater.

Before my job transferred me back to the mainland US, I was working/living in Hawaii, so a Koa wood case would be fantastic looking.

Yeah, Koa would be awesome. What they choose is nice, but it looks more like Ikea wood than something exotic and unique.

The machining part is easy its the weight that might be a problem.

Cocobola rocks.

I spoke to my luthier friend and we were talking about about different case ideas, he used to work as an IT project manager and builds his own pcs so he knew what i was talking about.

We were talking about a guitar themed build. He has the choice of great looking woods and for the size pieces that im looking for he has offcuts that would work well. We talked about incorporating rosewood mahogany and perhaps a flame or birdseye maple veneer and using fretwire as a type of binding or edging for the wood. He even suggested f holes in the front or 'sound holes' for ventilation. He knows a paint guy as well that sprays hotrods and guitars. I can get the case coated in poly paint that they use for guitars so it wont scuff. I just need to find a case for a base. I think i have just started a new project.

I should add i showed him the inwin case and he said it looked like an ikea special.

You just saying that because of the Hunger Games? ^_^
If not then I read that totally wrong with the accent and everything from the movie:p

As for me, I like purple heart if I did read it wrong. Although I do not think purple heart at all would look good on a case

Rosewood and Oak <3

I love Oak. Good choice.

Im leaning towards a veneer of spalted maple and a hard wood base like oak, mahogany, ash or alder. My friend has some honduran mahogany but i think its a bit too good for a case I have a guitar made from the same piece of wood.

Im thinking of a stain for the top coat followed by a poly top coat.

Im thinking of buying a define c case in the interim and giving him my define s case to play with. I think glass is actually going to be my problem

That sounds awesome. Spalted Maple would give it a more rugged and aggressive look. Flamed maple or birdseye would be super classy and suave.

Just watched gamers nexus video and steve says inwin hopes for around $250 for the 806, i think that would be ok if the wood was a nicer type, but hey ho i will probably still buy one.

Just to let you guys know. This thread will be sent to Inwin. Well, they will be sent here :)

I mentioned the interest in the ITX one and the cool ideas you guys were having to my mate and he's going to send it on to them :D

Cool. Do you know any motherboard manufacturers???
I would LOVE an extended ITX borad. With 2 pci-e 16x directly adjacent to each other.
The board would fit any case that has support for 2 slot GFX, but would make SLI possible with 1 slot GFX = watercooling :dribble:

Thats awesome. I am going to be buying the smallest wood and glass inwin case i can find and then mod it with water and decent wood using the wood from the case as a template.
