Hello everyone,
I just created an Overclock 3D account more specifically for the use of the forums which I am using right at this moment. I learned of this forum from Tinytomlogan's videos on the Time to Live Customs channel on Youtube.
As far as a brief discussion of myself as this is an introduction, I do take to computers primarily for video games though I had only just started really getting into the platform March of 2011 when I purchased "my first computer" (quotations because I had owned a laptop in the past) but essentially this desktop computer was a Acer Aspire line of products which was on clearance at a local Staples. I really did make two incredible mistakes from doing so as buying a retail computer (though I was hoping for more expandability) isn't really the best route to go I can vouch as at the time I hadn't really known of the internals as fluent as I can say now. I mean to a degree retail computers can be affordable or whatnot to an average consumer, I personally did so as I thought it would be a cheaper way to get a copy of Windows 7 Home Premium. But anyways yes the second mistake is purchasing something from Staples, I see Mitt Romney all the time say on media about how he develops such successful businesses (i.e Staples) my specific store is completely irrational.
I mean with prices being completely to the roof, I know for a fact Windows 7 Home Premium was around 200 dollars without HST included (which if you live in Nova Scotia that's 15% added on which is at another time to complain) and the staff members are clueless besides how to set up a wireless router and recommendations and such. I mean when I was looking at that specific computer a staff member was staring at me to then come up to me being conspicuous of what I wanted to do with the system, I said video games and web browsing primarily and he laughed. He laughed because he was pointing at this 1155 Acer Predator computer that was about 2000 dollars and said that that was the way to go to be able to play video games and how I wouldn't be able to play World of Warcraft on it's highest settings and whatever something I was not interested in anyways I disregarded what he had said and went with the system. Also as a "option of their good customer service" they had the option of installing Windows 7 for me, I declined though but they inevitably done so for me as it was already in progress, also warning me of not spending an extra 100 dollars on a backup of Windows 7.. It ended very annoyingly to be brief.
As a total though I mean the system isn't particularly bad, it had served it's purpose though in some of the more "recent titles" it did have some badder performance then I of hoped. So after Christmas I had accumulated a sum of money and upgraded my video card specifically a XFX Radeon HD 6970 with a reference cooler but a non reference pcb (obviously my power supply which was a XFX Pro Core 750w a fairly decent power supply for a small price at the time which adds to the false claim of their desktops being expandable beyond a hard drive or two) and a Noctua NF-P14FLX fan. I did need a bit of help from a fellow friend specifcally with going around installing the power supply as this was a riveted matx case which was a hassle at times we had to remove the top of it and lay it in and whatnot which to add the power supply that was included in the computer wasn't even of the ATX standard so luckily that did fit, I know the graphics card of everything I really was cautious of measuring my computer before many times and eyeballing if it would hit the ram dim slots as the only PCI Express 2.1 x16 slot was right below it and it had fit. But what I had most forgotten is that this desktop's rear exhaust is a 92mm not a 140mm which we then fit the 140mm on the side panel of the case with the grill (using the grommets that came with it running a 12 volts) and I have to say it's quite loud though probably in fact because of the grill not being too ventilated.
So anyways we do have my build sort of explained as of now I can do a brief follow up of the specifications in my Forums description I suppose so stay in tuned for that, as for results I'm quite happy at the moment though some slight cpu bottle necking in some of the more CPU intensive video games (in my case Portal 2) where the gels or water would extremely drop my frame rates of around 250-300 fps to 80 which did still lag so maybe I could of gone with the v-sync on though playing at such frame rates does feel better for the majority of the video game despite limitations of 75hz refresh rate at 1400x900, yes that's correct I'm running at such resolution at the time. I am looking periodically at the upgrade to a new monitor (probably the ASUS VH236H as it's the only more advanced monitors that isn't including the LCD-LED panels of the current generation)and I mean I could jump to the previous generation Asus 3d monitor but it's just not my price point.
I mean yes I really could go on about what I think I could do in the future, I think I'll just cut this post here and just start probing the Forums so goodbye to everyone, nice meeting you.
