Hey guys,

I've had google chrome and currently have firefox installed on my pc.. thing is I always get random shutdowns of them both and I cant figure out why.. Might have something to do with flash as its happened on youtube a bit.. Has anyone ran into this problem?

I've got windows 7 at a stable overclock of 4.5mhz if that means anything.

Cheers.

Dont think programs like running at 4.5mhz

Try uninstalling chrome, firefox and all flash, shockwaves and silverlight software, then reinstall after

Silverlight as in Microsoft silverlight? What does the program do? Would you suggest any firewall tweaks from windows?

Cheers.

Yeh, silverlight, and exactly what does it do....

It's some form of video / flash player or something I think? Just know it's to do with online videos and stuff, never really used it. It might even just be for internet explorer i have no idea. But uninstalling and reinstalling wont do any harm.

As for the firewalls, shouldnt be an issue. If you unstall and reinstall, they should create new permissions anyway if that is the problem

crashed last night.. :/.

I turned down my overclock down to 4.4ghz but when I tested it at 4.5ghz it was stable. Running out of idea's..

launch the app thats causes the main crashing problem

then, check how much free memory you have, and also, check have much free HDD space you have.

open up your task manager (right-click your start bar), and check to see if any apps are using over excessive memory in the processes tab

On average the computer is using around 3gb of memory when I have chrome running, I have 16gb so I dont see why it should be a problem.. I havn't scanned my computer for spyware or anything as such. would you suggest I do a spybot scan? What programs should I have installed as far as general maintance for the computer.. virus, spyware.

Cheers.

It shouldn't be using 3gb, for me general usage like internet etc doesn't use more than about 1.5-1.6gb

I'm currently running stress testing on intel burn.. first test on the maximum test setting failed :/.. where as prime 95 passed with overnight testing.
